[Highland Park] Roving Art Cart comes to Highland Park

The mission of the Citiparks Roving Art Cart is to encourage every child to explore his or her artistic talents in a variety of multi-media settings. From a day at the circus to an underwater puppet show, the Roving Art Cart's interactive art experience will set the stage for imaginative fun: <http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/parks/html/roving_art_cart.html> The Art Cart will be at the Farmhouse on Friday from 10:30 to 12:30, visiting the children of the Highland Park Community Club summer day camp and any other children in the neighborhood who show up. It comes back to Highland Park on August 8--it will be at the Super Playground then. Rudy

[Highland Park] Kitten found at the Reservoir

A silver tabby kitten was found at the reservoir. Is it yours? If not, would you like to adopt it? The kitten was first seen on Thursday, when it had a collar that has since been lost. It is a friendly kitten, approximately 6 months old, and female. Hello, neighbors! Thanks to the Ten-Spot Lawn-Mowing Service, getting your lawn mowed perfectly can be cheap, easy, friendly and hassle-free. All it takes is a ten-spot! It's just $10.00 for the whole job (including driveways/sidewalks at request)! I provide my own mower and can bring a grass bag if you do not want loose grass on your lawn. (A certain amount of loose grass is very healthy for your lawn.) If you have a question or you feel I've missed a spot, feel free to contact me. Since I'm your neighbor, it's easy for me to come back if you want something done differently, or if you want me to mow something else as well. I guarantee your satisfaction. So put that mower away and call or write today! It doesn't cost a lot to have a great-looking lawn. Please give me at least two days' notice for scheduling ease. [Highland Park] Union Project Stained Glass Restoration Class

The Union Project is very happy to announce a Stained Glass Restoration Class beginning September 4, 2003 and being taught by restoration artist Catherine Berard. In this class you will learn to repair and restore stained glass windows. This 10-week course will take you through simple repairs to complete disassembling and reassembling of historic 100-year-old stained-glass church windows. You will learn how to cut and replace broken or missing glass, glaze, lead, solder and putty a window. This course will give you enough background to make your own stained glass windows or restore your own historic windows. The class will be open to students of any skill level. All tools and materials will be provided. The class will be offered for 10 consecutive weeks and will meet for 2 1/2 hours each week. Cost for the class is $150. [Highland Park] Community Plan Final Town Meeting

All members of the Highland Park community are invited to attend the third and final Town Meeting in the community planning process, Monday, June 23 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at 5801 Hampton Street. At the meeting the Planning Team will present goals, strategies and implementation steps for the Highland Park Community Plan. The work is composed of neighborhood and survey data and specific recommendations for community improvement in areas such as community safety, education, recreation and youth development. Your input at this stage is important--after more than a year of hard work by local residents, we have an opportunity to build on the strengths of our neighborhood and to make it a model of a vibrant, healthy community. The planning team welcomes your participation in this event, and looks forward to hearing your perspectives on their efforts.
