[Highland Park] Nursery with Mature Trees

Hello. Does anyone have suggestions of nurseries or tree farms where I can buy mature trees? Obviously it can't be "full grown" but I need something bigger than a seedling. Also, has anyone had luck growing Thuja evergreens in Pittsburgh conditions (clay soil, not full sun)? Any other suggestions for tall screening trees? Thanks! Diane Shaw

[Highland Park] Need a plumber...

... and the Highland Park contractors list is hopelessly out-of-date. We need a plumber to repair our toilet that won't stop running. I've replaced the gasket around the tank drain but that's not it. We hired a guy from Mt Lebo off the contractors list -- "highly rated" on our neighborhood list -- and $120 later all he did was crack the pipe inside the wall so that we had water raining down into our living room. I still haven't figured out what he actually did in the toilet tank except spend time playing with it. I had asked him to replace EVERYTHING inside the tank, but most of what's there was not replaced. Any suggestions, neigbhors? Not a "handyman," thanks, but a licensed plumber I can hold responsible for the work. And, preferably, one who actually will call back. (We've had that experience, too: you call and leave messages and NEVER hear back!) Why is this so friggin' hard? When did plumbers become as scarce as good doctors? --dan

Hi Everyone, This list is great for reporting your bike lost or stolen. Here are a few other tips. Go to www.bike-pgh.org, there is a message board (under "resources") where you can list stolen bikes. This is truly helpful as those on bikes are usually looking at other bikes and many have been recovered through this list. Also, everyone should keep their eyes out for bikes that have been painted. I've spotted a few young kids on bikes spray-painted flat black. This is a dead giveaway for a stolen bike. I'm keeping my eyes open!
