[Highland Park] computer help needed

Hi, A neighborhood friend has asked me to inquire about neighborhood or local help with her PC, which seems to have been affected by one of the last big storms we had. Any recommendations? She's not sure if the PC can be fixed but she would at least like to be able to retrieve some important files. Thanks. I have a Mac, and I also wouldn't mind learning of any Mac people you could recommend. Thanks again. jai

[Highland Park] More kids on Jackson St

Last night around 8:00, five teen aged African American kids on bikes rode up the street with a new found basketball that had been in a neighbor's yard. They proceeded to play basketball on a free standing hoop, in the street about a block away. Their language was loud and colorful, and they were obstructing the street from cars coming thru. One of the neighborhood dads confronted the boys regarding the ownership of the ball, and the boy said, "its mine, NOW". So, a discussion followed with the boys continuing to use colorful language. They said they lived on Larimer Ave.The ball was released with a kick in the air when the dad offered to call the police. The police came but the kids were gone, later spotted on Stanton Ave. The outspoken boy had a cast on his arm. If anyone sees a group with a kid with a cast, watch out for bad behavior. [Highland Park] HPCC Meeting Thursday 8/16

Hello Highland Park The Highland Park Community Council will hold its monthly meeting this Thursday, August 18th at St Andrews Church, 5801 Hampton Street. The meeting will be starting at 7:00 pm. All are welcome. We have no program scheduled, so the meeting will probably not be a long one. We will be discussing the Annual Members meeting in September, and taking nominations for Officers and Board members for the 2007-2008 year. The Reservoir of Jazz concerts are going on for the next 3 Sundays at the entrance to the Park, from 5-7 pm. Bring a chair, blanket, some family and friends and enjoy some free music in a lovely setting. The House Tour will be on Sunday, September 29th from 11am to 5pm, so get your walking shoes out. [Highland Park] Bold scrap robbers

The problem is, that I spent quite a long time dismantling a stove for parts and the gas lines to attach the one that is now in my house. early this afternoon I heard metal scraping noises, looked out to the back yard and noticed a white/light skinned middle aged man wearing a baseball cap pulling along with him one of my gutters through my back yard . I stated for him to put it down, that it was not scrap and I said I would be right down. I was about to give him some scrap from the yard that I don't have time to take down right now, though he took off and as well as a white medium build woman with long brunette hair. They jumped into their full size blue ford truck and drove away. Yes the police were informed and a very nice officer Colassar took the report. Copper, brass and aluminum. I would have given them the stove and the three barbecues. I needed the parts for my stove. I just got them off yesterday. My own back porch though. [Highland Park] Kids in garage on Jackson Street

Tonite around 9:00, in the 6400 block of Jackson St, my neighbors saw 2 African American teen agers coming out of their garage which had been left open to air out the moisture from the rain. My neighbor asked, hey what are you doing in my garage, and the reply was" I'll piss on you". Nice talk. My neighbor said, get out of here, and they took off on their bikes towards Heberton. They appeared to be empty handed. The police were called to file a report. Marty Harkins

We have a young German Shepherd with a choke collar. He was found wandering around Heberton St. on saturday Aug. 11. Let me know if he is yours. Nancy Burrows
