Sacred Heart Parish will hold it's Annual Lenten Fish Dinner every Friday during Lent except Good Friday. Beginning Friday February 8Th and ending on March 14Th. We have both fried and baked fish dinners and sandwiches as well as Ala Carter items. You can call 412-361-3131 for take out orders after 4 p.m.. Dinners and Take Out orders are served from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart School Cafeteria located on Emerson Street in Shadyside. This is a reminder that the Martial Arts Beginner Program starts tomorrow, Monday, February 4. You can just show up at the school at 6 PM tomorrow if you are interested. See below for more information. ----------------------- Martial Arts Beginner Program Build up to practicing in the martial arts! Mondays February 4 - March 10 The Traditional Martial Arts Society will be offering a 6-week program to ease people into martial art training. TMAS will focus on concerns of adults starting for the first time: "I'm not in good enough shape to train"; "I'm not comfortable working with advanced students"; "I don't know how to roll"; "I don't know how to fall"; "I don't want to look stupid"; "I don't want to act inappropriately". Cost of the program is $80 and includes uniform. Hello neighbors. As announced at the last HPCC Meeting, I have decided that, after 4 years as Children's Committee Chairperson, it is time for me to pass the torch to someone else in Highland Park. It is a bittersweet decision for me as I have enjoyed the past years' opportunities to meet and get to know my neighbors. It has been so rewarding to see new friendships form in the neighborhood and to watch the joy on each child's face as he experiences something new and fun at one of the year's 4 children's events. I want to thank you for being such a supportive community that really seems to care about having these kinds of opportunities for our kids. There has never been a time without someone stepping up when the call was put out for help and I have appreciated that. I fully intend to stay involved with the Children's Committee in some capacity, but that means a new Chairperson will need to step up...If that is something you might consider doing, please feel free to contact me with any questions. Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company announces open auditions for its production of August Wilson's Two Trains Running Saturday, February 16th, 2008 9:00am-5:00pm at the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company 542 Penn Ave. On the Mezzanine Level Pittsburgh, PA Looking for: African-American women of all types, ages 16-32 African-American men of all types, ages 20 and up The show runs from May 8th -31st. Rehearsals would start in late March or early April. If you're interested in auditioning, please prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, although you may only be asked to perform one. We're always looking for new faces from all walks of life, so if you don't have any dramatic monologues ready to go, or don't possess a headshot and resume, don't worry. We still want to see you. Our talented, dedicated faculty helps each child realize his or her innate potential for intellectual and personal growth.
