I was awakened on Saturday around 5:30 a.m. by the sound of rapid gunfire. I called 911 and the operator told me that something was happening at Portland and Bryant. Does anyone know what? I wasn't aware that hoodlums were such early risers. I checked the police blotter for Zone 5 but didn't see anything related to the shooting. I did, however, see that there was a burglary in the 5000 block of Elgin. Yikes! What's happening here? Kelly Callowhill Street

[Highland Park] Moving - Free Executive Desk!!

Dear Neighbors, I am moving from Highland Park (the Eaglemoor next to Tazza D'Oro) to Friendship and will no longer have the room for this great piece of furniture. It is in very good condition and was passed on to me by my parents last year. The whole desk is made of solid red oak has no easily discernible marks on it. I am having trouble loading the pictures from my camera and will try to circulate them later in the day. It is well suited to be used in either an professional setting or home office. I have to be out of my apartment by Wednesday at noon. Consequently, this is a first come, first serve basis. Hello all, Starting on Monday 28 July, there will be two exercise programs I will be participating in. Anyone, at any level, is welcome. Weekday Mornings: 5:30AM - Jogging (Plan on about an hour.) Meet at the top of the stairs at the reservoir (near the fountain.) Monday and Tuesday evenings: 8:00PM - Sit-ups, Push-ups, etc. (Plan on 45 minutes or less.) Meet at the fountain. [Highland Park] Car Ransacked

Dear Neighbors - I left my car with the windows open and doors unlocked right on the parking patio besides our house here on Callowhill Street this afternoon, while only in my office over looking said Parking Patio, or in the Gameroom, next to the Parking Patio. Now I had made sure that there was nothing of any vale in this '94 Explorer, but someone took interest I it and ransacked it. All those warnings about this, and on a beautiful day with us just being home a couple of hours before going out, and yes it did happen. The glove box items were strewn about, as well as those from the center console, but nothing taken, nor any damage. My neighbors were sitting right on their front porch and never heard a thing. Just wanted to pass this on to everyone as we enjoy these unseasonably comfortable days. Please keep your house/car locked, and watch out for your neighbors. Well, it looks like we have sold our much-loved Highland Park home, but we still want to stay in the neighborhood--we just need to downsize.
