Martial Arts Beginner's Program Build up to practicing in the martial arts! Mondays September 15 - October 20 The Traditional Martial Arts Society will be offering a 6-week program to ease people into martial art training. TMAS will focus on concerns of adults starting for the first time: "I'm not in good enough shape to train"; "I'm not comfortable working with advanced students"; "I don't know how to roll"; "I don't know how to fall"; "I don't want to look stupid"; "I don't want to act inappropriately". Cost of the program is $80 and includes uniform. [Highland Park] Obama/Biden organizing meeting

It seems there's been some misunderstanding about the email I sent to the listserve about the local Obama/Biden organizing meeting. The meeting was Tuesday night at 7pm. I shortsightedly only wrote 'tonight' in my post, and since it didn't get posted until today (Thursday), people got confused. Sorry about that. In any case, I'm not a coordinator or anything. My wife and I just went this past Tuesday to volunteer for the first time after getting a call. We made some phone calls, and here's some other stuff I found out: They will be having the grand opening for the East End Headquarters this coming Tuesday Sept. 9 at 6pm, again at 125-127 N. Highland. Also, I gather that they have organizing meetings every Tuesday at 7pm. If you're interested in volunteering, I'd suggest heading down there this coming Tuesday. If you can't make it on a Tuesday, you could probably drop by anytime the office is open and let someone there know that you want to volunteer. Also, the campaign rep who led the meeting last week was Calvin Skinner, and his email is cskinner(a)paforchange.com. Will Hula

[Highland Park] Has anyone lost a cat?

Hi, There is a cat that kept coming to our front porch. She is black and grey and a little orange. She is very young, about two months old I would say, maybe three. She has a purple collar with a bell but no tag, and then a clear plastic collar with green strips that has numbers on it, but there appear to be too many to be a phone number, and it's definitely not an address. If she belongs to anyone (I am assuming she does) please let me know because she would sometimes wander into the street, and my roommate was worried she was going to get hit, so we took her in.
