Dear Neighbors - This e-mail is being sent as a reminder that we will again be having the monthly Highland Park Community Council meeting this Thursday, 21 MAY 09, at St. Andrews here on Hampton Street starting at 7:00 PM. The board will be going over details of the upcoming Yard Sales and the Bryant Street Festival, both being help on Sunday, 07 JUN 09, at 7:00 PM along with some other business concerning Highland Park, then at 7:30 PM (ish), we shall have a presentation by Jeffrey Dorsey, the Program Manager at the Union Project. Below I have attached a letter of introduction by Jeffery, as well as making an announcement that we will be holding our June meeting there at the Union Project. My name is Jeffrey Dorsey and I am the new Program Director at the Union Project. I started in January 09 and my job is to evaluate and manage all UP programs. Internally, I am working with each of our four enterprises in order to ensure that our programming helps them reach their goals. Externally, I am evaluating and seeking meaningful collaborations with individuals and partners that can help the UP carry out our mission. Therefore, all summer I will be meeting with neighborhood organizations and partners to build and maintain strong relationships and to listen to your needs. [Highland Park] Looking for Referrals - Gutters & Appraisers

Hello HP Residents, I moved to Highland Park from Texas last July after I inherited a house on N. Saint Clair Street when a family member passed away. I now have a leak in my living room that I think is related to the gutters on my house. I have rounded area in my living room with a turret roof over it. The leak is happening in the turret part of the living room and only seems to happen when it rains really hard. I suspect is has something to do with the old box gutters and/or the newer aluminum gutters. Can anyone recommend someone I might call about having my leaky turret roof and gutters looked at to determine where the problem lies? Who have you used that did good work? Beyond that, I am also looking to have my house appraised. My family member's estate has been settled and the last thing left to do is to officially transfer ownership of the house to me. I'd like to have the house appraised first, though. Can anyone recommend a good appraiser? Or, is anyone out there a realtor who might be able to offer me a professional opinion as to what my house is worth? I'm a CMU grad student and am trying to figure out if the house is a good investment. When school is done next May, I will more than likely be leaving Pittsburgh but will keep the house for investment purposes if it seems worth doing so. Many thanks for any referrals. Many of you in the community may have had the honor of knowing former principal of Dilworth. On Friday May 15, 2009 he lost his battle with multiple myeloma. The viewing will be at Freyvogel's (4900 Centre Ave) Sunday, 2-6 p.m., and Monday, 4-8pm.
