[Highland Park] Missing Pets

I'm fairly new to Neighborhood Digest and noticed there are many pets listed as lost or found. As many of you know, the Animal Rescue League will gladly check for a microchip in any animals that are found. Please remember to do a microchip check before giving the pet away to another family or person. Of course, other shelters and clinics also do this, but ARL is probably the closest to Highland Park. I know if my cats went missing, I would be beside myself and hope that anyone who found them would check their microchips. Also, if your pet goes missing, remember to call all local shelters to see if it has been dropped off there. Most will hold animals for a few days so owners can find them! -- Kate

[Highland Park] Looking for Terra Cotta pots

Hi everyone! I'm participating in a neighborhood beautification project with at least 25 Garfield kids this weekend and we're having trouble finding Terra Cotta pots on the cheap. We are looking for average-sized pots for kids to paint and then fill with flowers. Last month we did a trash pick-up and filled 100 bags of trash. Does anyone have any Terra Cotta pots in their basement or garage they would be willing to donate to a good cause? We're working on an extremely small budget (isn't every nonprofit?) so the lower cost the better. Thank you in advance for joining us in the good work! Cheers, -Alison

Needed: furnished house or apartment for visiting faculty member (CMU Psychology Department) from University of Athens. 1-person,non-smoker, no pets or children. Starting late August, through early December. (With some flexibility at either end.) Stella Vosniadau, from the University of Athens will be teaching a 1-semester course in the CMU Psychology Department this Fall. She is currently in town (until Friday), and is actively searching for a place to live, so that she will have it all lined up by the time she returns in the Fall. Hi! There is a young cat around our house, just was outside, (Tues., 5/18 around 12:15pm). I have seen it a few other times running under cars parked on the street. coloring is: white belly, legs, neck and jaw line and gray/charcoal back, tail and head. no collar. pretty friendly, came to me and 'meowed' a bit; then saw another cat and took off. we are on N. Highland between Hampton St., and Bryant Court. VERY BUSY and DANGEROUS STREET for animal crossings and this cat crosses it! if this is your cat just let me know before I take it in and find a home for it.
