Dear Neighbors The Stanton/Sheridan Avenue tree planting is rapidly approaching. We have 50 trees to plant! We hope you can help make our neighborhood more beautiful. When: November 6, 2010 at 9 am (rain or shine)! Where: Meet at corner of Stanton Ave and Heberton St. Who: Everyone! Children 8 or older are welcome to help with a responsible adult. There will be activities for younger children. Misc: Lunch and snacks will be provided. Wear work clothes. Volunteers needed for: 1. Help planting 2. Sitting at registration desk 3. Helping with food tables 4. Clean up RSVP to this email and let us know what you can do. Donations needed for food for volunteers! It does not regenerate rapidly and is vital to the swamp ecosystem. It is a waste of a good and magnificent tree to grind it up and throw it on your garden. Hi Neighbors! I wanted to let you know about an awesome LOCAL corn maze happening this month! Mish Farms in Gibsonia is having a Fall Festival - with corn maze, hay rides, kids area and great food! They are just 15 miles north of here...up Rt. 8, at 80 Oak Road, Gibsonia. It runs through October 31st and the hours are: Friday 2-8pm Saturday 11am - 8pm Sunday 11am - 6pm Adults $7; youth (3-10) $5; Under 3 FREE! Hope you'll come out and have some fun!! [Highland Park] Ceramic pumpkin carving TODAY and TOMORROW 3-6pm

Hello Neighbors, It's not too late to join in the pumpkin carving fun at Union Project (corner of Stanton and Negley) *today and tomorrow from 3-6pm*. Everyone is welcome, even if you haven't signed up. You may choose from small or large hollow pumpkin forms, each individually hand-made by a member of the Union Project Ceramics Co-op. They will be in the "leather-hard" state, meaning that they are firm to the touch, yet soft enough to be carved with a knife, just like a real pumpkin! After being carved, the pumpkin will be dried and fired in our kiln to almost 2000 degrees, and when you pick it up a week later, it will be a permanent jack-o-lantern, safe for inside and outside use. We had three pairs of shoes taken from our front porch last night, on Elgin St. Not sure why our old tennis shoes would be in high demand, but a warning to others to watch their porch "stuff," even if it doesn't seem valuable. Hello friends, I am looking to hire a part time professional level pet sitter and dog walker for my small pet sitting business, beginning around the week of Thanksgiving and lasting at least until the New Year's holiday. Requirements are: Must live in and be willing to drive to any East End neighborhood, including Regent Square, Swisshelm Park, Squirrel Hill, Greenfield, Shadyside, Highland Park and Friendship. Must own a reliable vehicle that can be driven in ALL weather conditions, including snow :-) Cell phone & Internet access. Protective waterproof gear for walking in ALL weather conditions, yes, even rain! The ability to work evenings, mornings, weekends and holidays. Good customer service skills. Must love all kinds of animals, especially dogs and cats. Ability to administer medications (including insulin) a plus! This is an ideal job for someone who doesn't mind getting dirty and wet and who wants to make a few extra bucks while having flexibility in scheduling and working independently. The candidate must be in excellent physical condition - strong enough to be able to handle large dogs and sensitive enough to care for small kittens.
