There are a few very nice things, such as German made wood, wool, cotton dollhouse people, a wooden magnetic dress up ballerina, and other items. No picking and choosing. You must take it all. Hello, My boyfriend and I are currently searching for an apartment. While we've been looking the last few weeks we have come to realize that most one 1 bedrooms are not quite big enough and our current place is just too big. We are hoping to find either a 2 bedroom or a 1 bedroom that has a separate living room and dining room. We are looking to spend between $700-$800 and need a place that will allow cats. We are looking to move in September but are flexible on our move-in dates. If anyone has anything that will soon be available or knows of anyone who might, that would be great. I would prefer to stay in Highland Park, but I am also willing to look in Friendship, Shadyside, and Morningside. Thanks, Autumn

[Highland Park] For Sale - Mid-Century Executive Office Desk

Hi Neighbors, I recently moved out of the neighborhood and now live in Glenshaw (about 7 miles north). I have a large wooden office desk that I no longer need. It's simply too big to fit into the small office space I have in my new house. The desk was designed by a well-known mid-century furniture designer named Jens Risom http://www.dwr.com/category/designers/r-t/jens-risom.do (FYI - desk has a plate on it with Risom's name to verify authenticity). It is L-shaped with 3 drawers and a return on the lefthand side. This is a big, solid, heavy, large piece of furniture for people who spend inordinate amounts of time working at a desk and need lots of furface area to spread out papers and books and work (it got me through grad school at CMU!). I don't have the dimensions handy but can get them for you if you're interested. I used this desk in my old Victorian house when I lived in the neighborhood. It fit well in my office which was approximately 12' x 12' with high ceilings. It also went really well with all the old woodwork in my house. Even though it's a mid-century piece, it blended in nicely with old house. This desk really wouldn't work in a very small house or apartment as it's too large. But if you live in a place with large rooms, then this would work really well in a large office space. [Highland Park] Car break ins

I've seen a number of posts about this and wanted to add my comments. We experienced this on N. St Clair between Stanton and Jackson over the past few years. Our previous car would lock itself after exiting, but the new car didn't, and I had left it unlocked on several occasions. It seemed to me the break ins happened, first thing in the morning as kids were walking up to Fulton, but I'm not sure about that. As we are now on Jackson and have a gated carport, haven't experienced this recently. I want to second the notion of filing a police report. That way it shows up in the police stats and helps the police have an idea as to what types of problems are happening in different places, even if they can't follow up on each break in. I'd also say, this may (???) be a good thing for block watch groups? I'm not sure- would it feel safe enough if you see people checking car handles to shout out about it? I don't want to see anyone put in danger, and yet also feel as if there are ways for neighborhood members to empower themselves, it is a good thing. -- Thomas C. Good catch Thomas! Just a side note to say that Open Office is free from www.openoffice.org and is as good as if not better than the best Office package Microsoft has to offer. It runs on Window, MAC and Linux and is a free download from www.openoffice.org The only catch is that if you want someone that only has M$FT office to be able to open one of your files, you just need to use the drop down menu when saving in and choose the appropriate extension. .doc for word, .xls for excel etc. Steve Karl On Tue, Jul 12, 2011 at 10:25 AM, Thomas C.
