I just was reminded that our family had a very bad experience with Small Smiles in East Liberty and I wanted to be sure to warn folks about their practice. I took all 4 of my kids and went in for a cleaning in 2009 since it was close and I could walk there. They were not encouraging about me coming back to sit with the kids and had me sign a waiver that they could use physical restraint if nec. I almost( and should have) left at that point, but they assured me it was a minor thing and they had never had to use restraint, it was just a technicality. After a x-rays and cleaning the dentist came to me with their x-rays and pointed out all these spots and said that *each* of my kids had 4-6 small cavities that would need to be filled, and Small Smiles could fit them in that day so they felt it important to get started. I could not believe this, but she kept pointing out the spots and saying this just happens sometimes. I panicked and okayed the work, so they drilled and filled four teeth on each of my kids including permanent teeth. That afternoon I called our old dentist in Penn Hills, who said to come in right away. He looked at the x-rays and determined all but one of the cavities was either not a cavity or in a baby tooth that would fall out soon and should not have been drilled. One my kids needless filling fell out got filled with food and caused that tooth to die and the one next to it decay. They also drilled into two perfectly sound permanent teeth on my older kids. All apparently to collect the money because we were on CHIP. I filed a complaint with the state board of dentistry but we left the country before it was resolved. So beware. Nicole Carlin

Hi Neighbors! We are considering re-painting the exterior brick, trim, and foundation of our (sort-of) American Four-Square style brick house. It was painted long ago in its historied life and it looks terrible now! We look to you for guidance on three questions.... (1) have you done this sort large-scale exterior brick painting project? When it rains it pours: Our toilet broke I NEED A PLUMBER Our car is rusting out I NEED CHEAP AUTOBODY work to pass inspection ,And we must get our pipes inspected from a LICENSED CONTRACTOR for asbestos.
