[Highland Park] buckeye tree

I have a different kind of request. I am with the Highland group, but live in California now. I keep in touch though the group. Anyway, I was telling my grandson about buckeye's and how I used to collect them on my way home from school when I was little. I wanted to show him what a buckeye looked like and that maybe he could take to his first grade class for show and tell. Does anyone know if the buckeyes are still falling from the trees? [Highland Park] Help needed for Occupy Pittsburghers

The very cold folks camped out dahntahn at Occupy Pittsburgh need donations of cooked, healthy food. They need other things too. I am trying to cook soups, etc. at home and get them down to them, but don't have a car. If anyone would care to help in any way please know it would be greatly appreciated...Make food and take down. Or help me transport what I made (or get in supplies). Or go to their web site and look for what they have listed...occupypittsburgh.org . (Please keep in mind they have junk food already, need healthy offerings, some vegetarians/vegan, some really would jump for joy for some homemade chicken soup!) Thanks!!

Four a number of years now the ancient Christian Festival of All Saints has been, at St. Andrew's in Highland Park, the center of a great celebration of music--and truly a highlight for both the parish and the community. Mark calendars now! Tell your friends! The Music Festival begins this year on All Saints Day itself, Tuesday Evening, November 1, when at 8 p.m. Thomas Octave, Director of Choral Music at St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, will conduct the All Saints Festival Chorus in a musical service, "Lessons and Carols for All Saints." The Festival continues on Thursday evening, November 3rd, also at 8 p.m., when the Choristers of St. Andrew's Church, under the direction of Matthew Derby, will sing a service of Choral Evensong. The St. Andrew's Choristers are children and young people who participate in a program of tradition musical training under the direction of the Royal School of Church Music. The program is always open to new youth participants. Come and hear them--and feel free to speak to Mr. Derby if you know a young person who might be interested. On Friday evening, November 4, at 8 p.m., pianist Nathan Carterette and cellist Rowena Gutana will present an "All-Bach" recital program, including the Goldberg Variations, and the Unaccompanied Suite for Cello. All these evening programs include a festive dessert reception, and all are welcome. The All Saints Festival concludes on All Saints Sunday, November 6, at 11 a.m., when St. Andrew's Parish Choir, under the direction again of Tom Octave, will be joined by the Pittsburgh Festival Orchestra in a Choral Service of the Holy Communion, with F.J. Hi Neighbors! This list serve has always been such a great resource to find things that could not be found anywhere else! For that very reason, I'm sending a note out looking for a job....or perhaps a next career.... Not for me, but for my father, Ben Caplan, who has been searching for a while now. The only reason he's not the one posting this message is because he is not from Highland Park (not a member of the list serve), but rather he lives in North Hills. My dad is, among many things, a smart, business savvy individual, with years of business experience, both as an owner/operator of his own company and as an employee. While his expertise is in marketing, he is looking for a position in variety of fields including, but not limited to business management, marketing (telemarketing included), retail sales, etc. Really anything that will get him back in the game! I know occasionally people will list job openings on here and I thought I might seize the opportunity to be proactive and see if anyone knows of any opportunities out there.
