Taking a very slow step behind the springy lantern fly works best. But they are also laying eggs now. You can put a sticky strap around your trees to protect them (they like to crawl up), and scrape off & burn the greenish masses if you see any. How can such beauty be so bad. Handy-person suggestions, please, for door off hinges

Hello, neighbors. The hinge-screw holes to one of the original wooden doors in our 1910 home have stripped themselves so that the hinge no longer holds the door to the doorframe. It's only the top hinge that has the problem. The bottom hinge is solid. Looks like this is the second un-doing with holes from previous screws adjacent, too! (Photo below.) Looking for handy-person to take on this small job. Suggestions, please! Warnings welcome, too. Much thanks, Becky

Cub Scout Pack 343, based at St. Raphael Church in Morningside, is starting our 2023-2024 program year, and we invite families with boys and girls in grades K-5 to visit us for Scout Like a Pirate Day on Saturday, August 26 at 10:00 am. Scout Like a Pirate Day is a fun day to celebrate Cub Scouting! Kids will be completing pirate-themed adventures with Scouts their age. If you’d like to dress like a pirate, bring pirate flags, or bring other fun decorations, please do! Scout Like a Pirate Day St. Raphael Church, 1154 Chislett Street Saturday, August 26 Grades K-3: 10:00 - 12:00 Grades 4-5: 10:00 - 1:00 Check in will be in the front parking lot, where our volunteers will direct you to your den meeting location. All dens will be meeting outside, so bring a filled water bottle and sun protection. If you haven’t been to St. Raphael before, there’s lots of street parking on Chislett, and there’s also a large parking lot in the back (entrance via Bryant Street). Can’t join us on Saturday? Pack 343 Welcome Night is Wednesday, August 30 at 6:00 pm, and we’ll have information about joining Cub Scouts and a chance to visit with the Pack. Cub Scouting is more than just an activity. It’s adventure, learning, and discovery around every corner. Countertop samples to view?

Hello neighbors! I am thinking about replacing a countertop in my kitchen. I am currently favoring using a stone composite material, such as Corian. Does anyone know of anywhere (besides Home Depot) that has a nice selection of samples on site for viewing? Also, anyone have good or bad opinions on this material, and installers? How do we on the Jackson Street straightaway petition the City for a speed bump? Some fools don’t seem to care that there are kids, pets, handicapped, old, and a great cross-section of folk here. Not looking for trouble; just a concerned taxpayer. Frank Czuri
