A former garden club

Dear Highland Park Residents I wonder if anyone knows of a Garden Club that existed in Highland Park in the 1940's, 50's, 60's ?? Many towns and neighborhoods, of course, had garden clubs then and many still thrive. We in the current Highland Park Garden Club are curious to hear about any information that you might have. I have checked in the files in the PA Room of the main branch of the Carnegie Library and did not find anything. I will go to the History Center as well, and see if they have anything in their archives such as meeting minutes or membership information. ISO: Dog in need of a good home

Our family is looking for a dog that is need of a loving home. We have tried the rescues and have not had any luck. We are looking for a medium to small size dog.Two years of age or younger who is good with kids and other dogs. Also, friendly, affectionate and doesn't bark to much. Our kids both have autism and loud barking all the time would set them off. Can anyone recommend a place or website to check out? Anyone interested in re-homing their dog? Thanks, Watson Family

Glaze for Good

Join Union Project's ceramics co-op for a collaborative community event, Glaze for Good. It's FREE and open to the public. Attendees are invited to paint bowls made by our very own co-op members for the 25th annual Empty Bowls event in March. Come join us on Sunday, February 23, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm in Union Project’s studio to connect, get creative, and learn about how these bowls will contribute to our greater Pittsburgh community! No previous ceramics or art experience required. Amanda Fry, a representative from Just Harvest, will be present to talk briefly about the main Empty Bowls event happening March 15th. About Empty Bowls The annual Empty Bowls dinner in Pittsburgh serves up a meal of soup and bread as a reminder that too many people throughout our region are facing hunger. This year’s 25th Anniversary event will feature artisan pottery for guests to take home, soups from restaurants across the City of Pittsburgh, and an auction featuring local artwork.
