Hello all. I am moving and have a few things for sale. I bought this couch in 2022. I ripped the cushion recently and ordered a replacement and they sent me ALL new cushions that I have not used! I have them in the original packaging. So if you, or anyone you know, is looking for a ( practically) brand new couch here it is! I paid over $1300 for it. Vegan leather Carmel colored. Asking $900 OBO. I will also have a couple of Ashley place nightstands, a recumbent exercise bike, and various things ( storage units, shelves) cookware) needed for an apartment or home. Possible Scam

I just got a call from Medicare, unsolicited, and want to warn others. The caller was a woman who sounded like she had made a thousand phone calls today. She wasn't necessarily old but just very tired sounding and announced that she was calling from Medicare. I said at first, as I say to other robo calls, even from those *to whom we donate: * "we don't do anything over the phone" or "I don't answer these calls" and she said "You just did." I was on alert because yesterday I had a call from a friend from out of town who had recently been scammed by an alert on her computer from Medicare which said "there is a problem, do not close your computer, and gave a phone no. to call, WHICH SHE DID, unfortunately. It led to her losing money. So I hung up on this person and am writing to alert you to not engage with someone from Medicare unless they sent a letter in advance or you initiated the call. They only have to succeed with a small fraction of people in order to succeed. We all trust Medicare and scammers know this.

Fwd: Negley - Bryant traffic safety improvements coming

*From the Mayor's Office:* Negley Ave area neighbors: The city has programmed a traffic safety betterment project to improve the Negley Ave at Bryant Street intersection and pedestrian crossings. We will begin construction this week and expect work to be completed by the end of July. Please see the below summary from DOMI. - In 2015 a quick-build safety project at Negley Avenue at Bryant Street was installed to improve the pedestrian crossing. Pavement markings and flexposts were used to daylight the intersection and shorten the pedestrian crossing. This location has high pedestrian generators with bus stops present as well as near the business district on Bryant Street. - Planned improvements include two permanent concrete curb extensions which will replace flexposts. Please see diagram below outlining locations. New ADA ramps will be installed along with the curb extensions. All trees at the intersection are to be protected. - In addition to curb extensions, this location will be stop controlled to better manage traffic operations and right of way at the intersection. Crosswalks will be refreshed as part of this project as well. Neighbors, The Highland Park Neighborhood email list is 22 years old. It uses tried-and-true mailing list tech, with all (or nearly all) of the modern things a site must do to function on the modern email world. Big mail providers have notched up their anti-spam practices to the point where it’s hard to be a little mail provider. You can see this when you get notices that a message from the list to you has bounced. If you would like to be involved in discussions about what to do next, and if you know what SMTP, SPF, & DKIM mean, reply to me. We’ll get together and figure it out. Thanks! Rudy 412-414-6189

Hi neighbors, I’m searching for a babysitter/mother’s helper for the month of August and possibly longer. I have 2 boys - almost 5 and just 3 - and am looking for someone to hang at our house/take them to the park (walkable from our house) for a few hours 2-3 afternoons a week and some Saturdays, ideally. The boys are sweet but active, so looking for someone who doesn’t mind getting down and playing with them. We are a non-smoking but cat friendly house. St. Jude Parish festival at St Raphael on Aug 2,3 and 4

Hi neighbors, We are weeks away from the festival held yearly at St. Raphael. There will be fun things for everyone like games, a kidz zone, good food, basket raffles and a flea market. Btw, if you have anything to donate to the flea market, we are taking donations on wednesdays from 5-7pm and saturdays from 10-noon through july 27. You can take your donations to gallagher hall, which is beyond the church and through the cyclone fence. Anything that you have is appreciated! Hope to see you at the festival!

Excessive Bounce Messages

There has been some change to Gmail that is resulting in these "excessive bounce" messages that many folks have been getting. When the listserv server sends a message out, if it can not be delivered or gets rejected by the subscriber's email address, the message "bounces" back to the server. The server tries again. When the message gets bounced back 5 times, then the server sends an automated message to the subscriber that their account is being disabled. If you have gotten these messages, your mail provider has chosen to implement anti-spam measures that sometimes are triggered by mailing list traffic. You don’t see the messages precisely because your mail provider returned them — they “bounced.” Comcast, iCloud, Gmail, ALL have increased the type of “reputation” checks they do, in addition to verifying that incoming messages adhere to relevant standards. It’s very hard to participate in global email at this point, as the big mail providers keep getting pickier and picker. Our list follows all relevant standards, but that doesn’t prevent us from running into this problem. All that I can do at this point is to re-enable all of the accounts that got the excessive bounce messages. I just did this to several hundred accounts. Hopefully we will be able to figure out what the issue is and resolve it, but I am just the moderator and do not know a lot about the technical end of things. I get a notification in my email for each account that is being disabled, so I know when you are getting an email about this. Usually I get a large group of notifications at a time, so I know it is time to go in and re-enable a group of accounts. I am sending this out as a posting that should go to all the subscribers, but if the message bounces back, then that subscriber will not see this explanation of why they did not get the message. Bob
