Bank subsidence help needed

For the second time in the last two summers, a patch of lawn, about four feet in diameter, has subsided, and is getting worse by the week, along my front bank on Elgin Street. Last year, after consulting some gutter and downspout contractors, I replaced all the gutters on the house and redirected the downspouts from ancient, blocked up, storm drain lines to direct surface discharges around my house, as well as filling in and reseeding the subsidence hole. All my advisors at the time assured me this would solve the problem. Still, I am seeing the subsidence again this year in the exact same place. I am pretty sure it is related to all the rain we have had again this year, but I need to confer with someone who is a genuine expert in urban landscape, drainage and storm water control. I don't know if I need a landscaper, a plumber, maybe both, but I would appreciate any suggestions of people to contact about this situation Thanks, neighbors. Ward Kelsey

Support Obama marching band at Chipotle Tuesday!

Hi neighbors - You may have seen members of Obama's marching band out near the school raising money (and sweating) this summer. The marching band is raising funds to send 50 students (band, drumline, dancers, and color guard) to band camp for a week at Slippery Rock University, and support the band throughout the marching band season. These great kids work hard to represent the school well, and to raise funds to defray costs so everyone can participate. This Tuesday 7/23, the band holding a fundraiser at the Eastside Chipotle from 5:00-9:00 pm. The band will receive 33% of all proceeds from walk in orders who either show the attached flyer or mention they are there for the Obama band fundraiser while checking out. While online orders and purchases of gift cards don't count towards the fundraiser, using a gift card to purchase your order does. Please come support these fantastic kids (many of whom are Highland Park residents) and grab an easy dinner at the same time! We'd love to see you there. Thank you! -Lizzie We're moving (back) to Pittsburgh at the end of August and looking for a (almost) full-time nanny to watch our two boys ages 2.5 yrs and 6 months. We're looking for someone from 9am-5pm (with the possibility of extra hours) Monday through Thursday starting in the beginning of September. We'll be living in Squirrel Hill (walk-able to the library, YMCA, etc.) and have a backyard for the boys. Both kids are good nappers, decent eaters, easy going and very adorable (in our eyes at least!). Our two year old will be in preschool two mornings a week. We've had a nanny with us for the past two years and have loved having her be a part of our family. We're eager to find someone that can be with us for the next few years. Any and all leads welcome!
