Need closed captions help

I am looking for someone who can explain the transmission of closed captions. We recently upgraded our TV to HD and still use an old DVR with HDD. The captions show while in TV mode, but not in DVR mode. Also, I can no longer see the captions on things I have recorded that I KNOW showed captions on the old analog TV. I am using the same setup with the same component wires that I used before, not HDMI. I would appreciate any help you can give me, as my husband is hard of hearing. Sherry 412-215-9631

My son is moving to a new apartment in Shadyside and was given a brief window of time next Wednesday, 7/26 to do so. He would like to have the new apartment cleaned starting at 9:30 a.m. that day to be completed by early afternoon at the latest. It has one bedroom, bath, living room, galley kitchen with full size appliances and kitchen nook. Hardwood floors throughout. Cleaning would include walls, windows and appliances. He won't have access to the space beforehand, but his current apartment is in the same building and a mirror image if it would be helpful to see the space prior.
