Alzheimer's / Dementia Resource

Thank you to everyone who responded with recommendations for Alzheimer's/Dementia resources. The #1 recommendation was a book, "The 36-Hour Day". I have read the book, and passed it on to my dad, who is currently my mother's primary caregiver. I highly recommend this book as well. It is a well-written resource for caregivers that explains in layman's language the progression of dementia and how best to handle circumstances that arise in caring for a dementia patient. I was able to purchase from Amazon and had it in a couple of days.

Please recommend a physical therapist

I am scheduled for knee surgery in March. I am in need of a physical therapist who does home visits who is also knowledgeable about myofascial trigger points. I would like to find someone who could minimize the aggravation of the existing trigger points and avoid creating new ones. If they are also capable of treating trigger points, that would be even better. Thanks for your input.

You are interested in the health sciences and are a retired teacher or health educator, a new teacher who wants to manage a classroom, or an engaging individual/Mom/grandmom who enjoys the health sciences. #MeToo Support Group for survivors of Sexual Harassment and/or Trauma

Dear Neighborhood, As a way of giving back to my community and engaging in feminist healing, I am coordinating a #MeToo support group for women who have survived or are currently coping with any form of sexual misconduct. The group will meet at my house in Highland Park on Monday evenings, from 6 to 7pm. This group will be free and is open to all members of our community. I am a licensed social worker with 15 years of counseling experience, 3 of them as a psychotherapist, and 12 as a professor of women's studies. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, and gender-related issues. We will hold one meeting on December 18 and then break for the holidays. We'll meet on a regular, weekly basis beginning January 8, 2018.
