Twas the dawn after "Winter Storm Warning" And in our warm house We were enjoying our breakfast: I and my spouse. When out on the street there arose such a clatter That we sprang from the table to see what was the matter. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Revealed a depressing three inches below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, Sandy and the Stealth Shoveler were here! Our generous neighbor, his dog at his side, Was clearing our sidewalk with true joy and pride. His eyes, how they twinkled; his smile was so bright For he knew a clean sidewalk is a welcoming sight! He spoke not a word as he helped those heading to work. He helped school kids and dog walkers. And here's a nice perk: When the sidewalks are clear It's a great way to say to our overburdened mail carriers: "Have a nice day!" As winter sets in and we complain of the weather, Let's make a commitment to face this together: Let's take pride in ourselves; Let's take pride in our blocks; Let's give neighbors a hand As we shovel their walks. Give someone a gift, give someone a treat: Become the Stealth Shoveler on your street! Take a few extra minutes to make just one pass To be sure that your neighbor won't fall on their ***.
