Hi Marcie: Commander Lando confirmed that the officers who responded to the Shot Spotter alert said it was actually fireworks being set-off on top of the hill, not gunfire. He just emailed me. Evensong at St. Andrew's

October 1 is the "First Thursday" of October--and so the occasion of the first "First Thursday" service of Choral Evensong at St. Andrew's in Highland Park in the new fall season. Propers for the service will observe the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. Evensong begins at 8 p.m. , and the choral service will be C.V. Stanford, in G major, and the anthem the _Factum est silentium_, by Richard Dehring. The service will be followed by a brief musical recital, with pianist Linda Morgan Ellison performing the "Estampes" of Claude Debussy. And all are invited to a reception in Brooks Hall after the recital.

Free 62" DLP TV

Hi all, We have a Toshiba 62HM95 DLP TV <http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Toshiba-62HM95-62-inch-Integrated-HDTV…>. Recently something has happened with the display - it just shows horizontal colored lines instead of the picture. The sound works fine, and I just replaced the DLP bulb recently, which is worth around $50 by itself. I'm sure this can be resurrected with a bit of repair, but we're looking to just clear it out at this point. If you're interested, let me know - it's yours for the taking. It's large, but it's pretty light. It can easily be carried by two folks.

Wool Sweaters, Buttons and Zippers Needed

Posting this for my mother, who is doing a craft/recycling project: I am looking for wool sweaters (at least 50% wool). Can be women's, men's or kid's sweaters and it doesn't matter if they have shrunk in the washing machine or have some moth holes!! Also looking for buttons (preferably old or unusual ones that you might find in your mother or grandmother's button tin) and metal zippers. Please respond to nicko724693(a)yahoo.com. Thank you!

Please see the Commander’s comments in the email below. He says that it was a fairly quiet week, but our section is unusually long. I added the map again so you can see where things are happening. No actual addresses are shown. These are “block” and intersection locations only. Also, on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd, many people heard what sounded like 7 gunshots at 7:35pm. Attached you will find this week's Community Crime Update. It was a fairly quiet week, however, we did have two armed robberies with identical M.O.'s in the East Liberty area. On 9/23 (at N. St. Clair & Mathews) and on 9/24 (at Stanton & Heths), a male victim, walking alone, was surrounded by a group of young black males (16-20) and robbed of his belongings. One of the suspects held the victim at gunpoint while the others went through the victim's pockets and stole his belongings. Officers have increased patrols in the affected areas and detectives are investigating. In other news... The times for McDonald's "Coffee with the Cops" has adjusted for the fall. The new times are as follows: 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month from 3pm-5pm at the Penn Avenue location (by Trader Joes) 2nd & 4th Thursday of every month from 3pm-5pm at the Penn Circle location (by old Zone 5) We encourage any Zone 5 residents to attend and bring your kids!
