October 1 is the "First Thursday" of October--and so the occasion of the first "First Thursday" service of Choral Evensong at St. Andrew's in Highland Park in the new fall season. Propers for the service will observe the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. Evensong begins at 8 p.m. , and the choral service will be C.V. Stanford, in G major, and the anthem the _Factum est silentium_, by Richard Dehring. The service will be followed by a brief musical recital, with pianist Linda Morgan Ellison performing the "Estampes" of Claude Debussy. And all are invited to a reception in Brooks Hall after the recital.
