Hello Neighbors, We have a sad state of affairs at our house. My 13 year old son loves Dungeons and Dragons and he is cursed with sister and mother who are not interested in playing. His father, who loves to play, does not have enough time to play. Are there any other boys or girls in the area interested in playing? We life in Highland Park. We have all the equipment. Our first taco night at Tazza D'Oro was an amazing success! In fact it was soo much fun that we're going to make this a regular thing! Join us this Tuesday (12/29) & every Tuesday from 6-8pm for delicious tacos, groovy tunes, & fun times. Tomorrow we will do: The Reg--sazon simmered ground beef, sharp cheddar, pico, shredded lettuce, & smoked tomatillo crema Chicken Little--sriracha-scallion chicken "nugget", pickled red onion, house-made cheese "sauce", shredded lettuce, ranch Don Hongo--smoked mushrooms + chipotle-pomegranate bbq sauce, pickled red slaw, guacamole, queso fresco (can be omitted/ made vegan) Ninos--a la carte quesadillas for the kiddos $4/giant taco (2 tacos will do) See you tomorrow! Helping KIDS!

Hey, HPers! Many of you know that, for the last three years, I've been doing the Polar Bear Plunge to raise money for Jeremiah's Place. In that time, I (and a few unlucky souls I recruited over the last two years), have raised around $12,000. Unfortunately, I had to have some major ankle surgery on November 17th, so it would be dangerous and foolish to attempt the Plunge this year. (Even MORE foolish and dangerous than usual...) 😔 Even though I can't jump, I was hoping to still raise funds for the cause. Jeremiah's Place is a crisis/relief nursery right here in good old 15206. They provide 24/7/365 care for children whose families are in crisis. A family crisis may be that one parent is hospitalized, or the heat isn't working in a home with an infant. It could be someone new to the area who doesn't have a support system but and has a job interview. Or it could just be a Mom or Dad who is exhausted and frustrated and needs to take a break to regain perspective and energy. Allegheny County Snow Angels Program

The attached article appeared in the HPCC December newsletter. One of our neighbors signed up for the program and suggested I send it out on its own in case some folks did not read the entire newsletter. A good suggestion. Please take a moment to learn about the program. Snow Angels matches neighbors with neighbors to shovel the walks of those (typically seniors or handicapped) who are unable to do this on their own.
