Global Solutions Pittsburgh Presents Global Challenges and Local Impacts: Human Trafficking January 16th at 6:30 PM (Doors 6 PM) In the Atrium of the Union Project, Stanton and N Negley Panelists include Kelly Kochamba, FBI Human Trafficking Coalition Judy Hale Reed, Duquesne University School of Law Susy Robison, Homeless Children's Education Fund This discussion will focus on the different aspects of human trafficking, including modern day slavery, law enforcement and non-profit groups working to combat this activity, and the exploitation of victims. Description: The UN defines human trafficking as "all acts related to the recruitment, transport, sale or purchase of individuals through force, fraud or other coercive means for the purpose of economic exploitation." This activity is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights, not to mention the 3rd largest and fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims. Traffickers target undocumented migrants, oppressed groups, runaways and at-risk youth, and the poor most frequently. A little known fact is that currently there are more slaves today than during the height of the Transatlantic slave-trade. This discussion will focus on the different aspects of human trafficking, including modern day slavery, law enforcement and non-profit groups working to combat this activity, and the exploitation of victims. My sister and her family (husband and twin baby girls) are moving from Brooklyn to Pittsburgh and looking for an apartment to rent. They can pay up to $1200 per month and they would love a place that allowed easy entrance for a double stroller. Hello neighbors, I received all I need from the mayors office to start a crime watch for our area. I just wanted to put it out there for everyone, if your interested in participating let me know. This is truly about keeping our children, and families safe; and comfortable. I believe the more we stay active in this, the more any criminal activity will be deterred . In any event, I will be putting signs up on Jackson street. These were hand delivered from city council to me. This is not about pointing fingers, or profiling any person. [Highland Park] Burglar caught in the act 700 block N Negley

Last night my elderly neighbor had a man trying to break into his house. He heard noises and called 911. The Pittsburgh Police arrived and caught the suspect. He was still in possession of the pry bar and had several previous convictions for similar crimes. Just wanted to thank zone 5 officers for their fast response.
