Hi neighbors, I'm passing on some information about an ongoing study at Pitt- The Voice Physiology & Motor Learning Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh is conducting a study evaluating how the vocal folds (cords) function during different breathing conditions. You may be eligible if you are: · Female. · Not currently pregnant. · Non-smoker. · Aged 18-45 years old. · No history of voice problems (such as hoarseness lasting longer than two weeks), breathing problems (such as asthma, COPD), and psychological problems (such as anxiety, panic). · No history of vocal training · Not taking any medication which may affect voice. The study will take place over two consecutive days involving approximately 1.5 hours of total time. You will be compensated up to $50 for your time. [Highland Park] a plug for some *super* painters

Hi. I wanted to put a plug in for 2 incredible painters: Cyle Dowling and his cousin Mike Browning. They are painting the inside of our house this week, and our little ol' "nice-enough" house is being transformed. Since Monday morning at 8:30, Cyle and Mike have shown up, worked for 9-10 hours every day, even in this crazy 95-degree heat, and done really excellent work These guys are amazing: meticulous, fair, honest, work like dogs, knowledgeable, flexible, extremely accommodating, etc. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about them. They show up, sand/repair walls as needed, wash, prime if needed, and paint 2 coats of Sherwin Williams. I anticipated that it'd be a huge pain to have painters here all week, but they've been so organized and personable and low-key that it's been a joy to have them here. Oh: plus theirs was one of the lowest bids that we got. If you know anyone who needs to have some painting done (interior or exterior), you might want to forward this email to them. Hello Highland Park Residents, Quantum Theatre is setting up shop right in your neighborhood- on Lake Carnegie in Highland Park. Quantum is a theatre company that creates theatre in places that are not theatres. For over 20 years, we have brought theatre experiences to non-traditional places like the cemetery, Frick Park, the old Iron City Brewery, among many others. As part of our Neighborhood Initiative, an effort we began two years ago in which we committed to stage consecutive works along the Penn Avenue Corridor (the East End neighborhoods stretching from Bakery Square to Doughboy Square). We are thrilled to continue this effort by bringing, *The Golden Dragon*, to Highland Park this August. *The Golden Dragon* By Roland Chimmelpfennig Directed by Karla Boos Five actors play many characters – 15 in all – whose lives are connected through a street-level Asian restaurant and the apartment building over it which could be… anywhere on the planet, such is its generic quality. These disparate lives come together at The Golden Dragon like the mirrored shards of a kaleidoscope and we watch the patterns change after a random event sets it all in motion. Ultimately the play is a darkly funny allegory for the turmoil plaguing our increasingly intertwined global community. Its language is poetic and the play includes the dreamlike magic realism Schimmelpfennig is known for, but at times it erupts with an edge of violence. [Highland Park] Youth size 5 Keen sandals

My son grew out of these size 5 Keens (photos left) before they could wear out. These are excellent summer shoes! Soft nylon webbing, sturdy sole and toe protection. Can get wet and dry quickly. Can go into the washing machine (cold wash recommended). The back heel is covered, I think the style is called "Newport." I think I paid close to $60.00 for these a year ago. I'll sell them for $20 and throw in a free pair of similar (more worn, open heel) Keens made out of a tougher waterproof material. (photo right) These are NOT little kids sizes; they are for "YOUTH," like ages 8-12. Email if interested. If they don't sell by tomorrow they will go to Goodwill on the weekend.
