Looking for a math tutor for my daughter entering 8th grade. Would like to reinforce pre-algebra and algebra concepts over the summer. My name is Melissa and I have two lovely girls ages 4 yrs and 4 months I am looking to have care for a few days a week. I would also like someone who is open to an occasional evening for a date and/or errands. My husband travels extensively for work and is not home often and I am in need of someone 2-3 mornings/days per week. I am only looking for a couple of hours each morning probably like 9-12pm and as I said maybe an occasional week night or weekend night. I can be flexible what days you watch but I am looking for morning help. My 4yr old is full of life and so I need someone who is willing to play with her, read to her, answer her questions, and take her to the park. Hello Members, Unfortunately I thought Garry Lantzy was also a reliable good man. I recommended him through the Highland Park community since then he has stolen from me and there are criminal charges pending against him. He seemed very honest, and hard working. I would never want to bring a threat to the community in any way. Please do not hire this man he is a scam artist. He performed good work then I proceeded to find missing items in my home. In turn lead me back to Highland Park to move because of this incident! I am happy to be back in the community, however this man is the cause of me having to uproot my entire family. [Highland Park] Warning About A Painter/Handyman

Hi everyone... Based on some references I collected on this list serve I passed along the name Garry Linzey (sp?) to a friend who needed help with a small interior/exterior paint project. Garry showed up at my friend's house in response to her call and provided a rough estimate on the back of his business card that seemed reasonable. After conversing for a while, my friend hired him with the stipulation that he come back to finalize details of the project with a fully detailed, written estimate. Within a few days of their initial meeting, he came back to her house unannounced, while she was at work, spoke to her brother and told him that he needed money up front for supplies to get the job started. My friend's brother did not know the details of his sister's agreement, but in an attempt to help the project along, obliged Mr Linzey by giving him the $150 he asked for to get things started. My friend was supposed to be providing the paint and all of the other prep supplies, so there really was no need for any money up front. In any case, after getting the $150 cash, Garry never showed up again. It's been a few weeks now and no sign of Garry. He has not returned phone calls and has not shown any signs that he is planning on returning to her home to start the project. At this point, she has moved on and only asked me to send out this message so that other people will heed this warning and not hire Garry Linzey. Garry... If you happen to see this message, I'm sure you know which customer I am referring to and I would hope that you would please return her money immediately. Thank you, Lydia

Washington. The articles suggest that the City's ban on electronic billboards prevents the repair of the sign. However, as Scenic Pittsburgh's Executive Director Mike Dawida points out in his Letter to Editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001-_l1lusQ4_8_omp0zwFeEtv41ZZwJUEUticq3AAUUWzh…] there is no law preventing Lamar Advertising from removing the rust, repairing the lighting or addressing the sign's ugly details. The City must carefully consider plans to "upgrade" the sign. What will become of the sign after the Bayer lease expires? Why has the existing sign been allowed to sink into disrepair? How will the proposed "upgrades" impact the scenic, environmental and historic landscape of the area? Will the City of Pittsburgh be blighted with the world's largest electronic billboard into perpetuity? Will "upgrading" the sign truly be energy efficient, considering that an LED sign that size could use up to three hundred times the energy of the average household each year? Scenic Pittsburgh, as a public voice for public space, is working with civic leaders to answer these questions. Our goals are to: 1. Make certain that the Pittsburgh/Bayer sign is no longer an eyesore to the community; 2. Safeguard the sign as an historic emblem of the City of Pittsburgh; 3. Ensure that the repairs of the sign respect the scenic, historic and natural environment; and 4. Prevent any conversion of the sign which will blight the public space we all share. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is returning to East Liberty for a fifth annual Community Engagement Concert at East Liberty Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m. PSO Resident Conductor Lawrence Loh will conduct works by Holst, Mozart, Delius, and Schubert. Featured in this performance will be PSO musicians, Jennifer Orchard, Violin, and Marylene Gingras-Roy, Viola, in Mozart's Sinfonia concertante. A pre-concert student recital will be held at 6:00 p.m., featuring students from Dilworth Elementary, CAPA Middle School, and the EL CEO (East Liberty Community Engagement Orchestra) from Hope Academy of Music and the Arts. A bake sale, and post-concert student recital featuring members of the Obama Academy 9th and 10th grade Steel band will be held immediately following the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra concert.
