[Highland Park] Volunteering for Highland Park Clean-Up

Hello everyone, The AmeriCorps program that I serve with (KEYS) is partnering with Parks Conservancy to do a massive clean-up project in Highland Park on Saturday, April 14th. Work will include trash pick-up, removal of invasive plants, and tree planting. We will be starting at 9am and working until about 1pm. We are trying to generate as many volunteers as possible! Anyone who is interested in helping out (or if you just want some more information), please contact me at tjmcandr(a)syr.edu. [Highland Park] Spring Yoga at Nuin

Great way to unwind from a hectic weekend! Sunday night from 6pm to 7:20pm at the Nuin Center on Bryant Street. Adrienne Barr is a gifted yoga instructor who will inspire you, as her many regular Highland Park attendees can attest. This mixed levels class leads students from the beginning level and up through a practice that includes sun salutations, standing and seated postures, beginning inversions and arm balances, a deep relaxation and seated meditation. Having taught for 13 years, Adrienne can provide a variation for the student at any level, while giving plenty of individual attention and guidance. Dear Neighbors, We are going to be hosting my daughter's greyhound for a month or so and will need someone to walk her in the middle of the day on weekdays. I know there have been both requests and ads for dog walkers on the listserve before, but I didn't pay much attention because I didn't need the service. Now I do. [Highland Park] retaining wall repair/rebuilding recommendation

Hello! We have a retaining wall in our backyard that's leaning considerably. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone trustworthy & reliable to take a look at it? Also, this wall separates our yard from the backyards of the houses behind us (which are higher than ours) Does anyone know where liability for this falls, I'm concerned about the neighbors yards being dug up by this, as I'm sure no matter the solution they will be affected. thanks! -- www.jodeeferrari.net

[Highland Park] HP Tree Care

Hello HP'ers: The Highland Park Tree Tenders and Tree Pittsburgh are hosting the second of three spring tree care events Tuesday April 17 from 6PM to 8PM. We're going to meet at the corner of Stanton and Farragut and work our way toward the park entrance. Mulching and weeding as we go. Maybe some pruning too. These trees were planted in the Fall of 2010. Tree Pittsburgh has a registration form on their website to track how many volunteers to expect. http://treepittsburgh.org/events/tree-care-highland-park-open-registration If you have never participated in a Tree Event this would be a great introduction and an opportunity learn more about the street tree program.
