PSA Tone it UP!.jpgThe Pittsburgh Society of Artists Guild (PSA) presents an exhibit at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (PCA) titled "Tone It UP". This exhibit, juried by Greg Harrison opens to the public with a reception at PCA on Friday May 11, 2012 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. In light of the recent heated political discourse and violence like the shootings in Arizona this past year and the Occupy Movement, government and media have suggested that we the public need to "Tone it DOWN." In response to this, Pittsburgh Society of Artists presents an exhibition asking artists to Tone It UP! PSA challenges our members and members of the other guilds to step outside of their comfort zones, pump up the volume and be loud by creating works that express what you the members are truly passionate about. The subject might be political, environmental, cultural, etcetera. The options are open as long as the artists' passions are expressed in the work. Juror Greg Harrison is currently the Chair of the Department of Art & Design at California University of PA. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with an Associate degree and received his Bachelor of Arts from California University of PA. He then completed his Masters in Fine Arts at Edinboro University of PA. Hi, all, I have been trying for a good while to find time to send out this thank you. Last summer, I lost my phone service twice. It took a while for me to figure out what was going on, but it turned out that it was a telephone pole in the alley behind our house that was starting to lean so far over that garbage trucks were often hitting it when they drove down. I was afraid that a winter storm would bring the pole completely down, and there were a lot of wires connected to that pole and a street lamp was on the pole too. So I contacted Verizon, Duquesne LIght, Patrick Dowd's office, and 311. I would really like to commend everyone. It took a number of months because it was a complicated project, but the telephone pole was replaced and all the wires transferred. Even before it was replaced, the other pole had been secured well so that it wouldn't fall over in a storm. Patrick's office (especially Emily and Jennifer) was so very helpful and so were Verizon and Duquesne Light (possibly the mayor's office too - I just didn't interact with them very much). Hey all! I have another gently used item for sale. It's a Bell Adrenaline Helmet adult one size. As far as usage, it'll be 2 years old this summer, so you should be able to get another year of use out of it. I only used it for a handful of ride and it was never used to protect my skull - thankfully! It's about $17 to $20 at stores and online and I think I paid $25 for it. I'll part with it for $10.
