Dear Neighbors, All the Girl Scout cookies have been sold! Thank you so much for all your support throughout this past year. We're giving back to the neighborhood by cleaning up the area around Carnegie Lake and by creating a Nature Guide to Carnegie Lake. The Girl Scouts will be using the proceeds from this year's cookie sale to go rafting in New River Gorge in May. [Highland Park] March Tree Care

Hello HP'ers The Highland Park Tree Tenders and Tree Pittsburgh are hosting a Tree Care event next Tuesday March 20 from 6PM to 8PM. We're going to meet at the corner of Bryant and Portland and work our way down Portland Street. Mulching and weeding as we go. Maybe some pruning too. These trees were planted in the Spring 2011. Tree Pittsburgh has a registration form on their website to track how many volunteers to expect. http://treepittsburgh.org/events/tree-care-highland-park-open-registration If you have never participated in a Tree Event this would be a great introduction and an opportunity learn more about the street tree program. [Highland Park] digital camera

Hello. My digital camera of many years has died a sad, sad death and I need one to take some pictures of my students at work this upcoming week. I don't have much money, but if someone has an extra digital camera (that is compatible with a mac, preferably, but if not, I'll figure out how to get the photos off it) that they'd be willing to part with for a small fee or donate to an educator in need, I'd be most appreciative. I don't really care about megapixels or quality or anything like that. I just want to take pictures that I can then download onto my computer. (and while I realize that my cell phone has a camera on it, that won't work for a variety of reasons that are too complicated to get into here) Thanks in advance to all my awesome neighbors! -Adriana E. [Highland Park] Looking for recommendations: carpenter, storm windows and/or window replacements

Neighbors, I'm looking for recommendations for a carpenter and for someone to do some projects with our windows. Can you help? This work is at our 1906 house that still has most of its original woodwork and windows. If you know of a good carpenter who could fix a broken doorframe in a way that retains the "old-house" look (e.g., will match the other trim), please send me your recommendations! This is a timely request as the door is inoperable, but I would be willing to discuss other future carpentry projects with the carpenter that gets the job. Also, if your house has its original wood windows and you've either had them updated with replacements that look the same, or have replaced your storm windows over the old windows, please send me your recommendations for that work as well!
