[Highland Park] Taste of Africa Dinner Hosted by CFDP on December 8

Dear fellow listservers: As some of you may know, I am on the board of directors for a non-profit organization called the Cameroon Football Development Program (CFDP). Our mission is to leverage soccer as a platform to address problems created and exacerbated by poverty in West Africa including HIV/AIDS, gender inequality, idleness and unemployment, and teen pregnancy. CFDP employs a distinct approach to educating and empowering Cameroonian youth which combines vital discussions on sensitive health and social issues with soccer drills and games in a positive and uplifting atmosphere. On December 8th, we will be hosting our annual Taste of Africa Dinner at the Union Project in Highland Park from 6-10PM. Tickets will be $25.00, which includes beer and wine and a buffet dinner made by our very own Highland Park Cameroon community. Entertainment will also be provided in addition to raffles. Additionally, if you know of any small business owners in the Highland Park community who would like to help sponsor this event, please let me know. This past summer, the funds we raised made it possible for CFDP to train a new team of leaders, expand our after-school programs to a total of 12 secondary schools in the town of Kumba, host a soccer tournament, soccer camps, youth days, and a conference. Now, we are poised to take our youth and community development programming to the next level. Please help us reach our goal while enjoying a fun night exploring another culture.
