[Highland Park] new middle school option and 10/5 open house at Waldorf School

Now that everyone has settled into their back-to-school routines, I know that many families with 5th grade students are already starting to think about school plans for next year. So, I wanted to make sure that everyone knows about a new middle school in the area that they might want to consider. The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh, which is located in neighboring Friendship and which had formerly gone K through 5 (with a daycare option for little ones), is adding a middle school! This year (2011-12) they have added a sixth grade, next year they will be adding a seventh, and by 2013-14 they will offer a full K-8 program. For those of us lucky enough to live in Highland Park (or anywhere in the city and some suburbs for that matter), school bussing is available and convenient. If you are interested in more info, you can check out their website at: http://waldorfpittsburgh.org/ Even better, you can attend the "Discover Waldorf Open House" they are holding on Wednesday, October 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Also, I would be happy to talk with you personally about my experiences as a Waldorf parent, and answer any questions you may have about the school. My son is currently in the 5th grade, having attended since nursery school, and we have been overwhelmingly pleased with the school and the education he is receiving. The DEA has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29, 2011, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm to provide a venue for persons who want to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. State and local law enforcement agencies will set up collection sites at local police and fire stations where people can drop off unwanted and unused prescription drugs. [Highland Park] Missing cat in vicinity of Bunkerhill Street and Park

Dear Neighbors, We are missing our cat Allister- last seen Monday morning. He is microchipped and was wearing a purple collar with a tag and phone number. We live on the deadend end of Bunkerhill Street and he typically stays in that part of the neighborhood and that end of the park. He will occasionally stay out all night, but now that two nights have passed we're worried. Hey neighbors, We have to make room for the new baby, so I'm selling some IKEA Malm bedroom furniture. I bought the pieces used in 2006. They're in great condition with just minor cosmetic flaws. Willing to sell all three pieces together ($125) or separately. Pictures shown below are from the IKEA website. You haul, I'll help you load. Bed is disassembled for easy transport. -$90: Full-sized bed frame (queen-sized shown in picture below), all parts included (headboard, footboard, side rails, main support beam, slats, nuts and bolts) except for metal stabilizer bars (which I never used and had no problems), birch veneer. Frame only; no mattress, box spring, or other bedding. -$25: 2-drawer chest, birch veneer. -$40: 3-drawer chest, birch veneer.
