Dear Neighbors, Kentucky Avenue School is having an Open House in combination with their annual end-of-school year carnival on Saturday, June 11th. When you visit KAS you will see the creative learning environment that is provided to the students and how they benefit from hands-on instruction from caring, committed teachers. The school combines the structure and resources of a challenging independent school with the coziness of home. They are now accepting applications for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Caroline Mom to just graduated, so no longer 8th grader, and a 5th grader. I will keep you updated on new local items as the season progresses.So for example this week we will have the first local strawberries of the season.  I always associate the appearance of strawberries as a sign that summer is finally here.Locally grown items that will be available this Saturday: Strawberries  Micro greens Green onions Kale Collards Lettuce Asparagus Rhubarb Flower and herb transplants Spring flowers Hanging baskets Please stop by the Zang, Kistaco and Greenawalt booths for the fresh veggies. Seedling Sale! I'm selling these seedlings all for the minimal price of $1 each: -Delicious Tomatoes (large kind) -Roma Tomatoes -Cherry Tomatoes -Bell peppers -Banana peppers -Basil These are great seedlings because: - I grew them all from seed in homemade compost right in the neighborhood. - They're grown in reused containers. - The tomato seeds are organic. - The pepper seeds I saved from last year's homegrown peppers. - They will grow into great produce for you to enjoy! [Highland Park] art lessons for children and adults

Hello neighbors, I am a former art teacher (I worked with grades kindergarten through 8th) and would really love to start teaching here in the neighborhood. I'm working on getting a space to teach at the Union Project, but would like to gauge interest in the neighborhood before securing anything. I'd be willing to come to your home to give private lessons, as well. I'm comfortable teaching any age or catering to any ability level, and can offer instruction in the following 2-dimensional areas: *watercolor *drawing (pencil, colored pencil, pen & ink, charcoal, pastels) *ink wash *acrylic *oil I specialize in portraiture and realism and have a Bachelors of Fine Art degree from Maryland Institute, College of Art. My rate is $25 per hour lesson which includes the cost of materials. For one-on-one lessons at your house I charge $35 an hour. These can be short- or long-term depending on what you're seeking. while spring cleaning i found (7) grade 5 workbooks that my son used...they are no longer needed since he'll be entering the 8th grade. there are a lot of empty pages left and hate to see these go to waste...there are grammar, spelling, math. make good practice exercises over the summer.....if you would like them let me know...
