[Highland Park] dogs and children!!!

*Please* when you walk your children past others landscaping and/or lawns do not let then play the on shrubbery! and pick my flowers. It kills them!!!!!!!!!! We have had to replace expensive bushes and bulb every year because of this issue. I would love have a little "no children permitted" sign to remind people but it does not seem to work for some. They think we all love your children. When we have caught the people in the act we have spoken to the offenders but *they act like we are being rude*!

[Highland Park] Foster Homes needed for area shelters!

Hi neighbors, Kitten season is upon us again, and the animal shelters are preparing to be inundated over the next several months. If you are able to adopt an animal that's great, but if you're only able to make a temporary commitment, please consider being a foster parent. Foster homes allow shelters to temporarily move animals who are not yet ready for adoption (puppies, kittens, etc.) out of the shelter and make room for animals who are immediately adoptable. I have fostered cats for years, and it is so rewarding! [Highland Park] Do you have children's rainboots you can donate?

Hi Neighbors, An outstanding nonprofit organization that I'm a volunteer with is searching for children's rainboots to use as decorations at an upcoming event. We are particularly looking for ones that are bright, colorful and in smaller sizes. I anticipate that we'll need around 20 pairs. If you have an outgrown pair of boots at your house that you would be willing to donate the to us, I'd be happy to stop by and pick them up - please email me to make arrangements. As we will not be doing anything to actually damage the boots, we plan to donate them to a worth nonprofit that is in need of children's clothing after our event. Thank you! The day before Easter is usually a very big day at the market.  We will have a full contingent of vendors, with lots of goodies for the holidays.  Of course the Greenawalts will have their local eggs.  Lots of fruits and veggies including some locally grown items will be available at Zangs, Kistaco and Greenawalt Farm stands.  Easter flowers will also be available.The J.L. [Highland Park] Rusted Root May 14 Benefit Concert

The critically acclaimed band Rusted Root will play a benefit concert at Shady Side Academy as part of the student-run Untucked event on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets for children ages 10 and under are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the refugee branches of the Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh and Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh. To purchase advance tickets, visit www.ssawebstore.com. The Untucked event is open to the public and kicks off with a family carnival at 4 p.m., followed by the concert at 6 p.m. Both the carnival and concert will be held in the McKnight Hockey Center at the Shady Side Academy Senior School campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel. The family carnival features inflatables, a dunk tank, a mechanical bull, a Wii zone, a fun photo zone, arts and crafts, and music. Food vendors include Little Athens Catering, The Franktuary, Holy Smokes Barbecue, The Goodie Truck and Conflict Kitchen. Rusted Root was founded in Pittsburgh and is known for its unique fusion of acoustic rock, world and other styles of music. The band’s first record, Cruel Sun, debuted in 1992. Their second album, When I Woke, went platinum in 1995. The band’s most popular song, “Send Me on My Way,” hit No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was featured on the Ice Age movie soundtrack.
