Hi. A neighbor of mine, a single mom w/ 4 boys--including an infant born last month--is in urgent need of an apartment or h ouse that she can rent beginning in November. The mom is *extremely* responsible and her kids are very well behaved. She moved into her current apartment last April and learned that the house was for sale only when the new landlord showed up with a letter telling her that she had to move out by the end of the month. The current landlord has agreed to give her until the end of this month (October) to find a new place, but she hasn't been able to find any place that: -will accept a Section-8 voucher, -has 3 or 4 BR, and -is in a good school district. I think she can pay up to $800/month (TBC). The landlord has offered to write a letter testifying that she's a responsible tenant to any prospective landlord. If you happen to know of a place that she could rent--and/or a landlord who might know of such a place, please respond, and I'll put you/the landlord in touch with my neighbor. She doesn't have Internet access and so asked me to make inquiries on her behalf. Thank you very much. -Nancy Downes 412/521-4503

Hello Neighbors, I don't know if you've heard of YERT--they are three great young people (one of whom is now making his home right here in Highland Park) who set off from the Union Project for a year-long road trip to make a very fun and inspiring film to address our environmental challenges. [Highland Park] Strawberry Plants AND toddler piano teacher?

Hello Everyone! My strawberry plants started as two lovely little plants two years ago, and the little guys have grown into a HUGE bunch of baby strawberry plants that have taken over my entire small garden patch. Therefore, I'm offering strawberry babies for free. If you'd like a couple, e-mail, and you can come on over. I'll dig up a couple for you. All you have to do is take the plants home and put them in the ground. They'll pop back up in April/May and produce for you in May/June. Also, my twin toddlers, who are, granted, only 3 (almost 4), want a new piano teacher! They love music, so I started them with someone last year, and that person got a fulltime job about three months ago. We still haven't found someone new. Basically, we're looking for someone who has the patience to sing with two three-year-olds, and can teach them some basics. One could play Hot Cross Buns and the other could ID all of the C's, D's, and E's on the keyboard before our teacher left. I have, admittedly, not been on top of life and have not kept it up without someone who comes on occasion to play with them. We're only looking for every other week for a half an hour. I should note that one of my boys has Cerebral Palsy, so part of this is using his enthusiasm about music to help him isolate fingers and use them independently. Best, Candi
