In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday a simple service of Holy Communion, with the singing of traditional harvest hymns and a brief sermon, will be held at St. Andrew's, corner of Hampton Street and North Highland Avenue, Highland Park, Pittsburgh, on "Thanksgiving Eve," Wednesday, November 24, at 8 p.m. We are invited to include as a part of our offering at this service an item (or items) of nonperishable food to be contributed to the East End Food Pantry. Hi! My husband and I are still reorganizing the apartment for the upcoming baby and we are getting rid of our two floor lamps. They are in excellent shape but we really wanted to replace them with new lamps that match our decor better. These are ideal for a modern look, and we have a more earthy warm tones look. [Highland Park] Free: oak futon frame, beechwood dresser-top changing table top, ottoman

I am trying to de-clutter and figured some of this stuff could come in handy for someone. The futon frame is very pretty wood, full-sized, I think, and disassembled and ready to go. The connectors for the bed to the frame probably need to be screwed into the bed (see the picture of the stuff in the baggy - it is, but if you are willing use it as a sofa only or are willing to support it on the bottom with something, you don't need to do that extra work. Pretty easy to assemble with an allen wrench and a screwdriver. The changing table will convert a regular dresser to a changing station. It is beautiful, but we don't need it and just need it out! fits a dresser 38" wide by up to 22.5" deep. Top dimension is larger with the side shelf. And the footstool has some fading, but is very functional and maybe shabby-chic? :-) Or it could use a throw. We are out of room in our house and it needs to go! Dear Neighbors, Having just moved here, I'm still not familiar with traffic patterns over the Thanksgiving weekend. Nevertheless I've promised to pick somebody up at the airport and then drive 300 miles East (to a destination directly off Route 80) on the day before Thanksgiving. Here's my question: the various online mapping programs suggest two alternate routes and I'm trying to decide which is fastest - Route 22 or Route 28? thanks - and thanks so much list managers for this invaluable list! -justine

[Highland Park] The Environmental Charter School

Hi neighbors! Over the last three years, The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park (ECS) has provided a vibrant, innovative educational program for students in grades K through 5. By 2013, ECS will accommodate grades K-8. As the student population continues to grow, the campus will need to expand beyond its current location at 829 Milton Street. On December 7, 2010, ECS will be proposing expansion to the former Park Place School building, 309 South Braddock Avenue, to the City of Pittsburgh Planning Commission. If approved, the Park Place campus will then accommodate grades K-3, while the Milton Street campus will accommodate grades 4-8. Your support is paramount for this project's success. There is a petition being circulated, both a hard copy and online asking for community support for this expansion. [Highland Park] good handyman- Greg Gordon

If anyone needs a handyman, I highly recommend Greg Gordon at 412 853-9740. We had several different types of jobs around the house and he did a great job on all of them. He was able to repair the mechanism in a 100 yr old door lock (and find parts for it), repair gutters, painted and basically went above and beyond. Margot Cavalier --
