[Highland Park] Farmers Market Cooperative of East Liberty Update

Hello Neighbors, You are all probably still recovering from Thanksgiving, and may not be thinking about food. But as with every Saturday, the market is open this Saturday. Most but, not all of the vendors will be open for business. Kistaco, Zang's and Greenawalt will all be open for business. So there will be lots of vegetables and fruit available. In fact Tim from Kistaco farm let me that they will have many items that are still homegrown from their farm. The items include apples, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards, and beets. I know their Kale and collards are always a popular item at the market. And their fresh pressed cider will also be available. In my humble opinion, Kistaco's is the best cider in Pittsburgh. Please give it a try. The Kew Park Coffee Bar will be closed this Saturday. We are taking a day off to visit the Byler family at Riverview Dairy Farm where the goat cheese is made. Thank you for supporting local farmers and the Farmers' Market Cooperative of East Liberty. [Highland Park] Animal friends waving adoptions fees!

Animal Friends of Pittsburgh is a non-killing model shelter. We have adopted our girl cat Briar from them and were impressed about how much care they took to make sure we would be a good match for her and her for us. And she is! Among the many awesome things they do they go around killing shelters the last night of the year to rescue animals that will be put down that day, they get another go in life. Animal Friends of PIttsburgh is holding a very special event by waiving the adoption fees through the end of the year for pets older than 2! [Highland Park] Vote for greyhounds!

Hello everyone, You may have seen my husband and I walking our two greyhounds - Paws (brown) and Pucker (black and white) around the neighborhood. We got our girls from Steel City Greyhounds, a non-profit organization housed out of the Golden Bone Pet Resort, in March. We have been active volunteers for this cause for over a year now (we really love our girls!). Right now, Pepsi is sponsoring a project called "Refresh Everything" that allows submission of "ideas" for funding. Steel City Greyhounds is running for the $5,000 category (money needed for spaying/neutering, food, travel to get the dogs (eight-hour round trip!)), and is in 13th place!! The catch is that we have to be in the top 10 by November 30th in order to win (i.e. they're giving out $5,000 prizes to the top 10 in the $5,000 category). We have been voting like crazy, and have moved up from 17th to 13th in about a week, but now it's crunch time! Signing up w/ an email is free, or you can text your vote (I will make the disclaimer that I don't know if there is an extra charge). So, if you have a second to either go to the website or to text (or both - they both count once a day!), we would really appreciate it! Feel free to vote for other "greyt" ideas (just make sure they're not in the $5,000 category - they ARE our competition, after all ;o)). [Highland Park] Snow removal

Since it getting close to winter I have been contacted by Paul Voelker who is offering snow removal and salting this year. During Feburary's bad weather, he was courtious, on time and made sure that I was able to park and drive in and on a consistant basis. He continued with following up through the rest of year. Keep your headlights clear with car wax! Just wipe ordinary car wax on your headlights. It contains special water repellents that will prevent that messy mixture from accumulating on your lights - lasts 6 weeks Squeak-proof your wipers with rubbing alcohol! Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking & squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence & clarity. Ice-proof your windows with vinegar! Frost on its way? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water & spritz it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they'll be clear of icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water---preventing water from freezing! Prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray! Spritz cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors & rub it in with a paper towel. The cooking spray prevents water from melting into the rubber. Fog-proof your windshield with shaving cream! Spray some shaving cream on the inside of your windshield & wipe it off with paper towels. Shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers. De-ice your lock in seconds with hand sanitizer! Just put some hand sanitizer gel on the key & the lock & the problems solved! Hope these hints help, even just one time.

Hi! I have a bunch of calendars with gorgeous photos of nature and animals, I also have a few travel catalogs of incredible locations in the Caribbean and bridal dresses. I was hoping to keep them as references for art, but I need the room and they need to go. These would be awesome for arts and craft projects (scrapbooking, card making, collages, etc).
