[Highland Park] Yard Sign Vandalized / Flier Posted

I left my house for about an hour this morning (6/16). When I returned my Obama yard sign had been taken down. No chance this happened without someone pulling it apart. There was also a flier on my door for Marshall Home Improvement 101 1-800-726-7398. I don't know if this is a coincidence but I really wasn't gone for long and have had only one incident with the sign before since prior to the election. No kids or other folks are running around the block like kids were the other time either. This seems more than a coincidence to me. I called the company and let them know how angry I was. They denied the taking down of the Obama sign. Could have been just someone hanging fliers for them I guess. I'm ticked though! Jessica Miller Chislett St. near Stanton Ave.

90.7% of respondents love the proximity to the park! 81.9% would love to see Business District in Bryant street improved, while 65.7% would improve public safety, which is showing us if we improve that street, we will even be less worried for public safety! Smart! Pizzeria is on the thin lead regarding daily needs of our residents. Ice-creamery and decent grocery are sharing the second place! Bakery is on the third place followed by bank ATM and kids friendly restaurant.... Thanks to all of your smart comments! Please keep going participating in a survey next five days!

[Highland Park] Outer Banks Vacation Bargain

Neighbors, We have been renting the same house on the Outer Banks for many years the week that includes July 4th (Sunday June 28th - Sunday July 5th). Unfortunately, we've had to modify our plans at the last minute and the realtor is offering a $500 discount on the week's rental (brings the rental to $2150). The house is a modest house (four bedrooms, 2.5 baths, not including the outside shower) in Duck that, while technically one lot back from the beach, actually has its own walkway to the beach and lovely views of the water. It is not far north of the Army Corps of Engineers pier which means that the beach is a bit less crowded. It includes towels and linens in the price. I've included the link to the website in case you might be interested (no need to contact me, rental is through the realtor); I just thought someone might be interested in the discounted rental price. There are pictures of the house on the website. So, if you're looking for a great family house at the Outer Banks for a prime week (lots of local fireworks there!), check it out. [Highland Park] HPCC Meeting at Union Project,Thursday 6/18

Hello Neighbors The Highland Park Community Council will be holding its June meeting at the Union Project, and all are invited to attend. The meeting will take place this Thursday, June 18th, starting at 7:00 pm. The Union Project is located at the corner of N Negley and Stanton Avenues, at 801 N Negley. Part of the meeting will be a tour of the facilities and an introduction to what they do in this former Baptist Church. If you are not aware of the story of the volunteers that took over this building, renovated and revitalized it, and now offer all kinds of activities and opportunities there, then you should be at this meeting. Even if you know all about it, you should come. Bring a friend. The HPCC meetings are to discuss Highland Park issues, and are open to the public. Please feel free to attend any meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except July and December). See you Thursday. Bob

[Highland Park] Lost Kitty

Still no sign of Ringo! I am still looking for the kitty from Baltimore who moved here against his will. I just wanted to post again. Ringo is a black and white tuxedo kitty who weighs approximately 17 lbs. He is about 14 years old and is very timid. He climbed on my moving truck in Baltimore, Maryland without my knowledge. When I unloaded the truck on Monday, June 1st, he jumped off the truck and took off into the woods. I live on King Avenue near the King Estate. I have been checking the Animal Rescue League with no success. Any help finding Ringo would be greatly appreciated. I received several calls and emails and I believe two people might have seen him, but I looked in those areas with no success. I think he was last seen on Wellesley between King and Negley.
