Hello All The next meeting of the Highland Park Community Council is this Thursday at 7 pm. The meeting will be held at St Andrews Church, at 5801 Hampton Street, but will be held in the downstairs classroom of Brooks Hall. David Hance will be updating us about the Heth's Run project, which includes the Butler Street bridge, the Zoo parking lot, and trails between the neighborhood and the Allegheny River. [Highland Park] Dumpster Rental Recommendations

Thanks to everyone who responded to my request for dumpster rental recommendations. Here are the responses I received: - We love *Driveway Dumpsters*. They have a website. www.drivewaydumpsters.com $275 over a weekend. And you don't need a street permit if you have a driveway. Street permit is $100. - *Crowley's Rolloff's* is a suggestion, not sure how much they cost though but they are dependable. http://www.crowleyrolloffs.com - We have used *Waste Management* for many of our dumpster needs. With all of our real estate acquisitions in the neighborhood, they have been helpful with quick delivery and pick up of the dumpsters. Their service is incredible and the prices have been reasonable in the past. I would recommend getting some type of cover (tarp) for your dumpster, because in the wee hours of the nights and morning, you will come out to find that the community has decided to use your dumpster for their needs and it's a bit irritating when you have a huge project to complete. I seem to remember seeing a post several months back about a spanish language and culture program that was being offered for kids and parents in the area (maybe at one of the churches?). I've gone back through the archives and have not been able to locate the post, however. Does anyone have any information about this?

[Highland Park] Tax Preparation

I know there have been several posts requesting a tax preparer in the area, but I don' recall seeing if anyone compiled a list. I'm in a situation where I live in the first floor of my house and rent out the rest. In addition, I've done quite a good deal of what I hope is tax-deductible improvements in the past year. If you know of anyone who has experience in this area, I'd be happy to hear about them (and a general idea of their cost). Thanks in advance! Rachel

Flyering for Community Meeting & Monday Evening Conversations: "Owning Your Community" We will need volunteers to pass out flyers throughout East Liberty to local residents.There will be a community meeting on Monday, March 31st to preface a series called Monday Evening Conversations at the Union Project in East Liberty. These are held as a platform for local residents to discuss important issues such as race and community ownership. This volunteer opportunity is extremely important to getting the community involved in an important educational events. Please dress for the weather, as you will be outside. Stations of the Cross Artistic Interpretations and Meditations March 17-21 6000 Highland Ave. (The old PNC bank building on the corner of Highland and Penn across from East Liberty Presbyterian) Every year the Open Door (a church that makes its home in the Union Project 801 N. Negley Ave.) seeks to provide an opportunity for budding, emerging and established artists to create artistic interpretations and meditations on the traditional 14 Stations of the Cross. This year we have 18 artists exhibiting. In so doing we also hope to encourage and enrich our neighborhood and its residents through the vision of these visual artists.
