HI I live on elgin, between st. clair and euclid. there has been a lovely friendly fuzzy cat trying to get into my house: thick russian blue type fur, black with orange bits, an orange back left toe, green and white striped flea collar. VERY hungry, tries to drink water from my frozen fish pond. I've been feeding the cat, but can't let her in--have three cats already... but she's cuter than a button, very affectionate, and boy, wants in! does anyone OWN this cat, and lets her out into the cold and wet? annie

[Highland Park] An unwelcome Christmas "message"

At 2:45 a.m. on Christmas morning we were awakened by a loud crash followed by shattering glass. Someone had hurled a brick through our front door, shattering the intricate beveled glass panel that is one aspect of our home we have always treasured. Who knows what incites people to such destructive acts? Our kind neighbor, Roger Laib, interrupted his Christmas cooking to come over and board up the door. He has a friend who works with stained glass and will inquire about possible repair/replacement of panels. In the meantime, if anyone else has experience or contacts with glass repair artisans please let us know. Clarke and Jean Thomas

I'd send this reminder later, but Susy and I are going to be away from our computers over this weekend . . . . Per New Year's Eve at St. Andrew's, in addition to the information below, a note that the 11 p.m. - 11:25 p.m. New Year's Eve Musical Recital will be presented by Carrie Smith, horn, and Linda Morgan Ellison, piano. I know these two exceptional musicians will help us "ring out" 2008 in great fashion! A final note too--if you have time, do check out that MySpace link to the Polished Pearls. Really fun! BruceR << At St. Andrew's Church -- We'll have our own little corner of "First Night" here in Highland Park, Wednesday, December 31 . . . . The evening begins at 11 p.m. with a musical recital in the church, followed by a simple service of Holy Communion. Then at Midnight we will climb the dark stairway in the Church Tower to Ring in 2009 on the Great Bell of St. Andrew's Church . . . . And then, over in Brooks Hall, we will enjoy refreshments (Champagne for the 21+ crowd, or sparkling cider, plus holiday cookies and treats -- with the great fun music of *The Polished Pearls,* a wonderful alternative folk-rock ensemble featuring Andrea Scheve, vocals and guitar, and Trish Imbrogno, double bass. [Highland Park] lost cat?

In the past few months I recall several e-mails about people's lost cats.....maybe this on is 'yours'????? we have seen a black and white cat around our house for the past couple of weeks. It is mainly black with white between its eyes, on its chest, legs/paws and under its belly area and has long whiskers. It seems to a semi long hair but has lots of mats and burrs in its coat. It is very cautious and will not come to us. We leave food out for strays, so that is why it has made its way here. Please e-mail if you believe this kitty is yours!! Thanks and have a nice day!
