Many, many thanks!!! to all of you who have sent recommendations of appliance repair people. While I make a few calls, I thought the full list might be of help to others too. jai 1. We use a company called Appliance Service Center 412-381-0400. Brandi, C A Properties 2. We have used Appliance Warehouse in South Side for all of our rental properties. They respond promptly and their prices have been reasonable to date. Their number is 381-8800. Hope that this is helpful. You are welcome to tell them that we have sent you to them. We have been their customers for about 2 years. Dana Smith Director of Operations Friendship Development Associates, Inc. 3. We use A-1 Service Co. for our washer and dryer. They do washers,dryers, ranges and dishwashers, Their phone # is 412-271-6108. We have had no reason to call them in 2-3 years. Good Luck. Jacqueline Brown 4. Don of Able Appliance 412/734-2253. The most wonderful repair person in the world is Mr Bob Woods, his phone number is 412.243.5500 Lisa 6. I have had excellent luck with this guy below. My sister uses him, and he was recommended by a friend. I can't understand him, but he does great work. -jean The sticker on our dryer says "Appliance Service -- 412-531-0402, or 412-922-9790." Mary and I recall that the last person to repair our dryer was competent and prompt (plus, he came on a Saturday), although apparently not a native English speaker. Unfortunately, I can't match this name or phone numbers with any of the appliance repair shops in the current yellow pages. 7. I was very pleased with a man named Bob Woods. 412-243-5500. He fixed my dryer--hard worker, reasonable, and friendly. Doug Khorey 8. I've got the perfect guy for you. His name is Chuck Bieri and his number is 412-377-0372. He's an independent repairman and has repaired a number of washers and dryers for me. He's honest, and will respond quickly. Safeguard your health and the environment from hazardous chemicals in the home The Mount Lebanon Library and the Energy Forum of Western PA is hosting a presentation free to the public entitled Greening Your Life: Safeguarding Your Health and Protecting the Environment on Monday, June 11 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. at the Mt. Lebanon Library in Meeting Room A (lower level). Representatives from the Pennsylvania Resources Council, Inc. (PRC) and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute's Center for Environmental Oncology will cover various health risks of common chemicals found in the home, environmental effects of using these chemicals, and ways to minimize potential negative impacts of these products. Individuals will learn about safer plastics and cookware, how to lower exposure to pesticides and numerous harmful chemicals found in the home, and how to identify day-to-day products that may cause cancer and other chronic diseases. The presentation will also explain how to safely dispose of chemicals that are no longer used or wanted. Examples include household cleaners, paints, stains, and automotive fluids. Participants will receive a free 28-page color booklet called Hazardous Waste in the Home: How to Safeguard Your Health & the Environment, "Healthy Choices Healthy Lives" newsletters, other handout materials and a customized spray bottle imprinted with non-toxic recipes.
