[Highland Park] theft

Monday, as I was driving up Jackson near Heberton, I noticed 3 teenagers walking up Heberton towards the park in the pouring rain. It struck me as they were obviously high school age and it was 9:30 a.m. Later that morning, I drove up Jackson and saw them running out of a neighbor's driveway. I called 911, circled around and saw one of the homeowners out in the driveway. A burglar alarm had gone off. Although they had nothing visible when I saw them, they must have doubled back later for 2 bikes on a porch. All 3 were black males, tall, slim, and dressed in dark clothing. Kate

[Highland Park] pet sitter needed

Hello! I am new here to Pittsburgh and I would like to find someone who can look after my pets. I am hoping to go and see my boyfriend who is studying in Scotland over the holidays. I don't have exact dates yet, since I can't buy a plane ticket until I know that someone can keep them for me! I have two pets...a 2 year old dog named Scout and a 4 year old cat named Fiona. Scout is a 33 1/2 pound Beagle that I think is mixed with a Shepherd (like a Whippet in size). I don't have enough money to board them (plus I think it is kind of cruel) so I was hoping that someone could foster them for me while I was away. I am willing to pay, but I am not sure how much yet, so I thought we could talk about it. I thought it might be a nice job for an older high school student, a college student home for break, or even a family that is thinking about getting pets. 8 p.m. Friday evening, September 30, 2005 The Eighth Annual St. Andrew's Lecture The Honorable Cynthia Baldwin *First African-American Woman elected to the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas *Chairperson, Board of Trustees, The Pennsylvania State University A key leader in our region and across the Commonwealth, Judge Baldwin will address the urgent theme of moral values and ethical conduct in personal, business, and community life in her St. Andrew's Lecture presentation, entitled "Do the Right Thing." The Lecture will include a period for questions and comment, and a festive dessert reception will follow for informal conversation. All are invited. [Highland Park] Armed Robber and Other Unusual Events

Does anyone know if the police caught the armed robber suspect they were looking for on Sunday? A Police officer asked if I saw a red headed adult white male on a kids' bike. This person had just committed an armed robbery on Negley Avenue. The suspect was wearing a light blue flannel shirt, and pants which were short on him. The suspect had a mask on which covered most of his face. The officer said you would recognize him because of the kid bike his was on. Also, this morning I found lawn equipment in my yard that belonged to my neighbor. I am assuming that someone was attempting to steal the equipment from his garage but got scared and put them behind my hedges. A neighbor is planning a trip this Winter and is looking for someone to check their house while they are away. They will be gone from about December 28 through January 1, and would like someone to check once or twice a day to make sure the heat is on and the pipes have not frozen.
