I love to share good things and this seems to be good. Check out this web site www.boonshoftmuseum.org. Go to memberships on the site. I have the voyager package for $59 and this gets me and my family into the science and sports center, the zoo, the avairy and the childrens museum for one year. If thats not enough check out where it says ASTC and AZA and this will tell you in other states, places you can get into as well. There is also a number you can call 937.275.7431 x144. They have called me back within a day or so for questions I had. I called last week and asked if I could give this as a gift for Christmas and have it dated as such but purchase it now and they told me no problem. This is thru the Dayton museum in Ohio and it works on a repricol program. I have used it so far to get into everything but the avaiy and have had NO Problems. Hope someone can use this. [Highland Park] Evening Use of the Police Firing Range in October

------------------------------------- Police Academy Firing Range has scheduled two upcoming "night fire" sessions. (These are sessions in which the usual 5PM ending time is extended for low-light training for the officers.) One will be on the evening of Tues, October 11th, and the firing will end around 8 PM, and the other will be on Thursday, Oct 20th, when firing may continue until around 10 PM. Does anyone know the status of 1026 Mellon Street? I think that's the right house number, but the last house on the right before Hampton, headed toward the park. Sometimes there are "for sale" signs, and sometimes not, but I haven't seen people there for years.

Hi folks, This weekend is the SALVO Arts Festival--and they still need volunteers! What is SALVO, you ask? SALVO stands for Salvage Artists Linking Venues and Opportunities. This festival is a fun-filled opportunity for individuals to try their hand at creating art made from salvaged materials, watch some great entertainment including the Zany Umbrella Circus, and stroll through none other than...an art exhibit featuring a Salvo Art auction! But they can't do it without volunteers!! If you're looking for something fun and out of the ordinary to do this weekend, please, consider helping out at the Festival. Attached is a volunteer signup sheet and a flyer about the festival. Refreshments will be provided to volunteers and everyone will receive a gift certificate to the Construction Junction store. The event takes place at Construction Junction, 214 N. Lexington St. in North Point Breeze. The new Highland Park web site at <http://www.highlandparkpa.com/> is now mostly operational. It's very slow at the moment and still lacks a lot of the content that should be there but: - Registered users may submit calendar events and have them show up on the calendar. Access to this feature will likely be limited to neighborhood organizations. Several events are already listed on the calendar and they show up as "upcoming events" on the main page. If you're interested in this feature, let me know and I'll walk you through the process including the minor formatting issues that are required. - Registered users may submit "stories" that will be displayed on the main page. This part of the site is disabled for now and probably won't be enabled until a couple of other issues are addressed. Dear Neighbors: Shelly Danko+Day here, in search of urban pioneers! There is a house on the 900 block of Mellon Street that has been for sale by owner for several months. The owners just had to leave because of the activity at 912 Mellon Street and concerns for their 4 year old son. It's a very large house. They gutted it and insulated the entire thing, new roof, full 3rd floor that can be a great studio space for an artist! They only want $65,000 for it... They don't want to sell out to some slumlord or absentee landlord since they still care about us, their neighbors. We have been trying to find some nice, young urban pioneers to buy it, but I noticed today that they have a lockbox on the door knob...meaning they have a real estate agent. So, as a last resort, I turn to you, the neighborhood listserve, to help find a perfect match for this home. Please give me a call at 412,661,4560. As you know, the 800 block has a lot of money going into it, and this end of the neighborhood is bound to be great! Thanks! Shelly
