Girl Scout Christmas Tree Recycling Saturday, January 5
Hi, neighbors! It’s that time of year again, when we are all looking to freshen up the house for the new year, and move that much-loved Christmas tree out of the house. Troop 52498 will again be offering curbside tree pick up on Saturday, January 5, to neighbors in Highland Park and East Liberty for a requested donation of $5. *If you would like to have us pick up your tree for you, and deliver it to a recycling lot, please fill out the form attached below. We will be aiming to pick up between 11am and 3pm on January 5. *If there is a time that works better for you, be sure to mention that in the form in the comments section. *Please sign up by Wednesday, January 2, so we have time to organize the pick up.* Last year, because of the success of the neighborhood's participation, we were able to make a donation of $200 toward hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. So your donation not only helped our girls develop leadership and teamwork skills through camping, community work, and earning badges, but also contributed to another good cause. We have not yet decided what we will support this year, but will keep the neighborhood informed. Our Girl Scouts are proud to be part of the push for the City of Pittsburgh’s expanded Christmas Tree recycling program! This year, the city will be accepting trees in expanded tree lots though the final Saturday in January, and because of the success of our service here in Highland Park, more troop’s are offering pick up in more neighborhoods: Morningside, Stanton Heights, Friendship, Shadyside, Point Breeze, Regent Square, and Squirrel Hill will all also have troops offering to pick up trees. If you would like to just drop your tree yourself, here is a link to the expanded drop off locations this year: http://pittsburghpa.gov/dpw/xmas-tree-recycling Happy New Year! -- Heather Conrad, Melissa DeiCas and Charity Haubrich Leaders, Girl Scout Troop 52498 gstroop52498@gmail.com [image: Google Forms] Having trouble viewing or submitting this form? Hi, Neighbors! Wow, what a great response! Thank you to everyone who has signed up. We are almost at capacity, but still have a little more room. Today is the final day to sign up, so that we have time to organize the pick up. If you meant to sign up, but haven't, here's a direct link to do so: https://goo.gl/forms/oCLajJBLA9x5L8xn1 Please remember, that the city lots are available to anyone to drop off at, so if you miss this chance, please still try to get your tree over to the tree recycling center near the pool (or one of the other spaces.) Trees put out with the trash (even on official tree pick up days) go to the landfills and do not decompose, but rot, in the anaerobic environment of the land fill.
