Hi, neighbors!

Just a quick reminder that we are still accepting sign ups through Wednesday to pick up your Christmas tree, if you are located in Highland Park or East Liberty, and bring it to a city tree recycling center on Saturday (January 5) for a small donation (full details below in my previous email).

Please fill out the form below or follow the link if you are interested in participating.

All our best,

Heather, Melissa, and Charity, Girl Scout Troop 52498

Hi, neighbors!

It’s that time of year again, when we are all looking to freshen up the house for the new year, and move that much-loved Christmas tree out of the house.

Troop 52498 will again be offering curbside tree pick up on Saturday, January 5, to neighbors in Highland Park and East Liberty for a requested donation of $5.

If you would like to have us pick up your tree for you, and deliver it to a recycling lot, please fill out the form attached below. We will be aiming to pick up between 11am and 3pm on January 5. If there is a time that works better for you, be sure to mention that in the form in the comments section.

Please sign up by Wednesday, January 2, so we have time to organize the pick up.

Last year, because of the success of the neighborhood's participation, we were able to make a donation of $200 toward hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. So your donation not only helped our girls develop leadership and teamwork skills through camping, community work, and earning badges, but also contributed to another good cause. We have not yet decided what we will support this year, but will keep the neighborhood informed.

Our Girl Scouts are proud to be part of the push for the City of Pittsburgh’s  expanded Christmas Tree recycling program! This year, the city will be accepting trees in expanded tree lots though the final Saturday in January, and because of the success of our service here in Highland Park, more troop’s are offering pick up in more neighborhoods: Morningside, Stanton Heights,  Friendship, Shadyside, Point Breeze, Regent Square, and Squirrel Hill will all also have troops offering to pick up trees.

If you would like to just drop your tree yourself, here is a link to the expanded drop off locations this year: http://pittsburghpa.gov/dpw/xmas-tree-recycling

Happy New Year!
