A Quiet Morning in Lent
In the Book of Common Prayer service for Ash Wednesday the congregation is invited "to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word." We all take this to heart as best we can, of course, in the midst of the many demands of daily life during a busy time of year. While the spiritual character of Lent is often overwhelmed by this busyness-- we would here at St. Andrew's as a congregation and community look for opportunities to step back for at least a brief interval. We are reminded that our "Quiet Morning in Lent" is scheduled this Saturday, March 5, 9 a.m. - 12 noon, meeting in Brooks Hall. Arrive a little early for coffee and refreshments. Carla Sivek will lead us in a time of prayer and reflection for the season, framing our day with the Parable of the Prodigal (Luke 15). All are most welcome --
