Jump to the schedule ARTPGH+DESIGNPGH Public Meetings This is your first opportunity to meet the ARTPGH + DESIGNPGH Team in person. Learn about and provide input into the planning process for the City of Pittsburgh’s first ever public art and urban design plans. At these meetings we’ll ask residents to provide input about the design and function of their neighborhoods. The team will discuss the general character, strengths, and weaknesses of our neighborhoods--from this we can start to craft policies to enhance our built environment. We’ll also present info about the ARTPGH + DESIGNPGH plans, including the process, goals, and projected outcomes of this exciting process. We need to hear from you, the residents, about what makes your neighborhood special. In order to translate that special character into real policies that will help to preserve and enhance our neighborhoods, we need you to participate! No prior knowledge of art or design is necessary! When & Where We've got six meetings located strategically throughout the City, allowing residents to participate near where they live or work. There will be two meetings per evening throughout the city. These meetings will cover the specific regions in which they take place, but all are welcome at each. About ARTPGH & DESIGNPGH Conducted by the Department of City Planning and its consultants, initial public community meetings will engage residents to provide input about the design and function of their neighborhoods. Information will also be presented about the ARTPGH and DESIGNPGH plans, including the process, goals and outcomes of this endeavor. ARTPGH will create a strategy for the City to engage local, regional and national artists, facilitate care for its extensive art collection, and involve artists in public space, facility and infrastructure design. DESIGNPGH will examine existing types of urban design and devise a plan with set guidelines that will inform future developers about the quality and character of design that is expected and feasible in our neighborhoods. The lead consultant for ARTPGH and DESIGNPGH is Urban Design Associates (UDA), headquartered in Pittsburgh, who are working with City staff to conduct the planning process and public interaction of these two plans. In addition, Barbara Goldstein will be the lead sub-consultant on the ARTPGH process and Jon Rubin will lead the public outreach process for both plans. PLANPGH is a Comprehensive Plan that is created through a process that allows residents to voice their opinions and make suggestions about how the City can grow smartly over the next 25 years. It will guide elected officials, City staff, and stakeholders in making Pittsburgh an even better place to live, work, and play.
