Dear Neighbors: I am writing to warn you away from Josiah Leisher, who is a manipulative and dishonest landscape gardener. He seems very trustworthy but is actually a liar and a thief. He claims to have performed services and continually changes his price estimates. He will steal your money and provide nothing in return. I gave him $600 as a down payment for a fairly large job in my backyard. It shows no plant placement and tells me nothing about what he would do. This is simply a drawing of my current house and back yard. I said that I did not have that much money and wanted to use the $600 for a smaller job in the front of the house. He told me then that he would charge me $45 for the useless drawing, attached, which seemed somewhat fair. But he later changed his price and told me he would charge me nearly $350 for this drawing and the following sketch of the front garden, which obviously did not take him six hours to complete, as he claimed. In addition, he continually delayed doing the work. He'd say he would start "next week," and then failed to show up. I'd track him down and he would say he would get to it, but never did. Finally, more than two months after he cashed my check, he told me that he could not tell me when he would do the work!!! I finally lost patience and asked for all my money back. He told me in writing hat he would return all my money, in two separate emails. He also wrote "you are garbage" and some other unpleasant and unprofessional things. Furthermore, he has still failed to return my deposit to me. I don't have a lot of money. I know it was stupid to give him money up front, and I have learned my lesson. I write to warn you against trusting this individual in particular and also to share the story of my foolishness. I will be suing Josiah Leisher in small claims court, by the way.
