Since Heberton was paved, cars daily exceed 50 mph up the hill. Heberton hill has also become a motorcycle race strip. Dear friends, especially friends living up the hill near the Farmhouse, *please *try to keep the 25 speed limit. Heberton hill has little kids, tons of dog walkers, joggers, school bus stops, camp bus stops. It is NOT safe, and it's terrifying, to open your car door parked on Heberton and have a car or truck buzz your body at 50mph. The city responded after our concern last year and put in new 25mph & Children at Play signs. But they are NOT visible. This photo shows how they are hidden behind trees. I writing to Deb Gross and the city again; meanwhile, anyone have suggestions? Thank you *so much! *
Dear Joy and HP friends and neighbors, I too am very unhappy with the careless and dangerous ways I see people in this neighborhood drive day in and day out. It seems to be getting worse. Pittsburgh drivers we always found in the past to be kind and much more stead than the drivers in the Northwest where we recently lived. Nowadays I feel that I am back there. Speeding, running red lights is a common occurrence, going through stop signs, following too close as a big rude black Cadillar SUV driver did to me yesterday and much more. Recently there were two fender benders on North Highland. Some of this goes for the cyclists as well who NEVER stop at stop signs and red lights even weaving through stopped traffic. Recently our daughter was t-boned at the corner of N. Euclid and Stanton by a woman who had a dog on her lap and drove through a stop sign putting our daughter in the hospital for 5 days. Two weeks ago my husband was stopped at the light on Negley by the old Jewish temple and was hit in the back by a driver who was "inattentive" my guess probably texting etc... By his own admission he was going about 30 miles an hour.... So hard was the shock that both cars were totalled!!!! fortunately my husband braced himself and was unhurt. The speed limit in our neighborhood is 25 MILES AN HOUR, LIGHT TURNING YELLOW DOES NOT MEAN SPEED UP, STOP SIGNS AND RED LIGHT MEANS STOP, FOR EVERYONE!!! Please drive as if a life depended on it, it could even be yours OR A MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY. A very concerned neighbor. Elisabeth On Fri, Aug 3, 2018 at 11:09 AM, Joy <manymanysheep@gmail.com> wrote:
