[Highland Park] list of transcriptionists/typists
Hi, A while back I asked for recommendations re transcriptionists. Below is the list of people who applied &/or were recommended mostly in the order received. Thanks to everyone for your recommendations! The person I ended up using the most was Tracy Thurman, who is right here in the neighborhood and does great work! jai •Tracy Thurman, tracythurman@mac.com. Highly recommended! for the work she's been doing for me, janet jai. *Amy Dressen, asdressen@gmail.com I used to work on several large ethnographic research studies and was responsible for transcribing interviews and focus groups. You stated that it's on tapes, but if you have it digitally recorded, by any chance, I would be willing to transcribe these. *Jana Finder, jana@oldphones.com I am an attorney but may be transitioning into other things. I do a lot of writing and listening. *Try Kathy Rice 412-963-1795 She does medical transcription from her home. I'm not sure what her schedule is like, but it wouldn't hurt to talk to her. Recommened by Denny <XtraHandz@msn.com> •Sounds like something a friend of mine, Marcy Brooks, can do. She does a lot of "freelance office service" type work. You can contact her through her website at: http://www.mjbrooks31.com or phone 412-874-5818. From Chris S. <cmshefler@soder-shef.org •I used to be a legal secretary so I could probably help out. (I do work full time and am not sure how much time your project would need.) Jessica Miller, kekikamiller@yahoo.com •I am local and can provide transcription services with a fairly speedy turnaround. I do have a day job, so I do proofreading and transcription on an evening/weekend basis. My web site ( http:// www.scbecker.net) will give you some information about all the services I provide. I am now able to work with cassettes, though - I need to get the site updated to reflect that. For transcription, my fee is generally $25/hour of my time. For a one-on-one interview tape, it typically takes about 3 hours of my time to transcribe an hour of tape. Stacy Becker, scbecker@gmail.com •I am a certified freelance stenographer and currently provide live, verbatim closed-captions for hearing impaired college students on a contracting basis. I typically only need one run-through of a tape to listen and transcribe (without pausing), and could provide you a transcript in a very short turnaround (likely one day) time. My fees are negotiable; I would probably charge somewhere around $3/page for something like this. Janeen Foley, CCR, 412-867-0487, janeen.foley@gmail.com •I am a grad student at Duquesne, I am used to doing this kind of typing/transcription as I do interviews and other sociological field work that requires this kind of work. My number is 281-704-9423. Melanie Smith, melsociology@yahoo.com •My name is Mary Ellen Palajsa, I am a legal secretary and work for Attorney Jon Pushinsky, a Highland Park resident. If you wish to contact me or Mr. Pushinsky by telephone, the office number is (412) 281-6800. mepcfp@myway.com
