•I am local and can provide transcription services with a fairly speedy turnaround.  I do have a day job, so I do proofreading and transcription on an evening/weekend basis.  My web site ( http://www.scbecker.net) will give you some information about all the services I provide.  I am now able to work with cassettes, though - I need to get the site updated to reflect that. For transcription, my fee is generally $25/hour of my time.  For a one-on-one interview tape, it typically takes about 3 hours of my time to transcribe an hour of tape.

•I am a certified freelance stenographer and currently provide live, verbatim closed-captions for hearing impaired college students on a contracting basis.  I typically only need one run-through of a tape to listen and transcribe (without pausing), and could provide you a transcript in a very short turnaround (likely one day) time.  My fees are negotiable; I would probably charge somewhere around $3/page for something like this.
