Hi- As a resident of Morningside, I typically hang back and just listen to the listserv, but I now have a small favor to ask. I was involved in a fender-bender yesterday just before the 5:45 PM at the corner of Penn Circle North and North Highland Ave, and I was hoping that there might just be someone on this listserv who witnessed it (there was a line waiting at the red light to go north on Highland and there must have been Highland Parkers in it), and would be willing to take a minute to describe it. I was in a Silver Camry in the left-most curb lane of Penn Circle going straight through the intersection, there was a man on a motor scooter who turned left onto Highland immediately in front of me. Once in the intersection, the other car involved, a black VW Rabbit, attempted to turn left onto Highland from the inner lane, directly into my path (really, this happened!). Needless to say, I slammed on my brakes but still hit the side of her car. No one was hurt, which is what is important, but the driver of the other car continued to maintain that she had signalled for a legal turn (and may be telling her insurance company that she was in a legal turn lane, for all I know). The police came, but would not file a report as no one was injured, so it's literally a "he-said, she-said." If anyone witnessed this accident, or might know a scooter rider who would have been in East Liberty yesterday at this time and could pass along this message to him, an email and a few minutes of your time talking to my insurance rep would be a fantastically huge help help to me.
